We all know that court and white wedding are borrowed culture.
I hail from Abia state and from the igbo tribe in Nigeria.
Some people who do not have money to further wedding process, just do their traditional wedding and start staying together.
Although am not married yet but i will giving experience on how my elder did hers and how it is done in my tribe.
First, the girl will meet her Dad and let him that someone is interested in her, her dad might ask her some questions then give him date he will come with his family members.
KNOCKING OF DOOR
On the date which the girl's father asked the man's family to come, he will come with his family members most especially his Dad and Mum but if he's Dad is Dead and he has a Senior brother, the Senior brother or Uncle will come with him to represent his Dad
They will make their tension known to the girl's Father. The girl will be called then will be asked whether she knows them.
The in-laws will be served with the girls Native food.
At that point, the list should be ready that is why the girl needs to tell her Father first. The man will pay at least 10,000 for the girl's father to release the list.
The list comprises of
Father's list [include the 1son list]: Yam,goat,rice,money,wine other food stuffs
Mother's list: will include wrapper, jewelry, money
Village list[what will be shared among villagers]: this include food stuffs that will be shared among cheifs, and elders in the compound
Most time the Boy can go and come back for the list if it is not ready.
TRADITIONAL WEDDING DAY

On the traditional wedding day, the girl will be locked in a room and will not be allowed to go out until the in-laws comes all the items in the list is presented either physical or with cash.
FIRST OUTING
After all the agreement and settlement of the list.
The girl will be allowed to go out for the first time that day.
She will be allowed to greet her in-laws and also spray them perfume to show that they are welcomed.
SECOND OUTING/MAIN EVENT
The girl and her husband changes to the main attire for the day.
The girl dances towards her father and she will be given wine by her father, after he have taken a little of the wine.
The girl walk in search of her husband and after she has found him, her husband finishes the drink and put money inside the cup, then both of them will dance toward the girl's father to receive blessings.
After blessings from the girl's father the husband's father will also bless them.
