Looking at the world we are in now, money is the only language people understand because they believe that all their problems can be solved with money. Meanwhile, money is not everything simply because sometimes it's better to get support on how to make money than be given money.
I never said it was bad for a student who performed well in their studies not to be gifted money, but then some things are more than just giving them money because the money would finish, but the other opportunity given to the students will never be a waste.

There is a related scenario that happened in my family many years ago, and I would like to use it as an example. One of my elder sister's sons broke the school grade record in his school, and none of his classmates met up with his scores, so the school board gave his mother, who is my sister, two options: a scholarship or money.
But then, the proprietress of the school suggested that she would give the boy money instead of the scholarship that the board wanted to give him. I don't know why she didn't want to give the scholarship out after the board had announced it.
My sister wanted to agree to it because she felt like she and her husband could afford their children's school fees even without scholarships, but my sister who followed her advised her not to agree with what the proprietress said because it seemed like she wanted to buy the scholarship back instead of giving it out.
I also told her that money wouldn't be enough to qualify the boy's performance because scholarships would go a long way instead of money that can be spent in a second without leaving where they are, so she went back to meet the proprietress and told her that she would want her son to take the scholarship and that she didn't want the money again.
Some other parents collect the money instead of the scholarship, and some months later things become hard in the country as usual and they couldn't pay for their children's school, which made my sister happy that she took the scholarship instead of the money because my sister's husband was having a bad time at work, which affected them a lot, but the scholarship helped their son, so they just paid for the other child, which was easier for them.
Sometimes money is not the solution to some problems because once the money is spent, the problem will surface again.
Though it sounds good to give money for student's performance, but they need more than just money because as students, they still have a long way to go with their academics, so why not appreciate them with something else like sponsorship instead of money.
Giving students money for their brilliant performances will never go a long way because some of them wouldn't mind being good at their studies just to get paid, which will destroy some of them.
What I think should be done instead of giving money is to sponsor their education for their brilliant performance, and that would help their lives positively because the sponsorship would go a long way rather than money.
