I was around the age of 14 when I stopped having any interest in watching the news. The only thing that would make me watch the news intentionally is when I need just one or few informations about a rumour I've heard from people. From a very early age I knew there is lie in the news we watch, half truth and well cooked lies.
I prefer if the citizens know exactly what's going on in their country, it's our home so why shouldn't we know everything going on in our home. No matter how devastating the news might be, there is always a wise way to present it to the citizens, the whole truth. Most of the news station in my country are owned and controlled by the government, so we only get to know what the government wants us to know, which is unfair and super selfish.
The only place where we get reliable news especially news relating to our government is online and X (formerly Twitter) is the most reliable platform to get news. The government also banned X in the country sometimes last year because of how fast news spread on it. The only way they could minimise the use of X was to banned it though that didn't stop us from using the app. VPN apps were downloaded on our phone to change location and access the X and continue our agenda which was to spread news that contained truths bout what's going on in the country. I am glad such platform as X is not owned by the government else where else would we be getting legit and 100% truthful news.
One of the reasons why I dislike watching the news is that they confidently try to sell the lie to us but the only people that buy their lies the most are our elderly ones. I really still do not understand why they like the news so much up till this era. They believe the lies and spread it among their mates, becomes the gist in the market and they act according to what they've heard. This has made me dislike the radio so much, I grew up helping my mum to sell goods in her shop, she would turn the radio on to listen to programs and news. Some of the programs are very interesting, educating and funny at times. But when it comes to news, it ruins my mood always because the hosts have good ways of selling some of these lies to thwir listeners, who are mostly people within the age of 45 upwards.
Countless times I would tell my mum about these lies and it took a while for her to realise the truths becaue these news host use lies to cover lies, find excuses to justify some of the actions of the government. I remember that I would intentionally go beside the radio when my mum is very busy but listening to the radio, I'd shift the antenna of the raido so that the signal and the sound won't be so clear and later on she would ask me to help her adjust it then I'd make it worse till she gets tired and ask me to change to another radio frequency or put it off. I can't help but show my dislike for radio news whenever anyone is listening to awful news presentation close to me. I either leave there or plug my ears and listen to good music.
I hope private news station would be established, the ones that won't be easily maneuvered by the government. One news station that still has the citizen's trust is the Arise News, a private news station and they really have been doing their best to broadcast what is going on in the country and also share less or no lies at all (they can't fully escape the cunny government rules and their selfish bids to regulate the news to their taste)
Thank you for reading till the end
