There is this saying that "tough times don't last, only the tough people do". Well, I agree with this, tough times sure don't last but how do we cope when these tough times come? Do we fight to be victorious or do we let the tough times pull us down and obstruct us from getting to our glorious destination? As humans, tough times are inevitable in our lives, they will surely come, it is left to us to fight the good fight and win over the bad and tough times.

THE TOUGH TIME I HAD THAT I LEARNED FROM
I had a very tough time when my mom felt ill, she was so ill that the sickness nearly took her life. At this time, I was depressed and desperate for a solution, wishing everything to just go back to normal. During this time, I was preparing for my secondary school leaving certificate examination. My gaining admission into a higher institution depends on my result in this examination and there was my beloved mother on a sick bed. I became confused and didn't know what to do again.
This incident contributed majorly to my maturity because if my mom had not been sick then, most of the things I take responsibility for, I wouldn't have because I know my mom would take care of it. While she was sick, she couldn't do anything again, my dad was busy running around for her to get well. The house was then in my care as the first child, I have three other younger siblings to look after, and I became the mother of the house. Before going to school, I'll make sure to prepare food for my siblings and my dad, and take them to school before heading to my school. I had to return as early as possible to prepare lunch. This made me skip extra school lessons, and immediately after we closed by 2 pm, I would rush home to take care of the house.
This was the toughest time of my life it was then I realized that mothers are rare gems and they can never be replaced. I became a mother at that time and all I could wish for was for everything to go back to normal because it was wearing me out. Focusing on my forthcoming examination became impossible. "One can't claim victory until you overcome hurdles in life", it was then I believed that statement.
WHAT IT MEANT TO ME
At that point whatever I did then meant the world to me because I was able to take responsibility for my family. During those trying times, my parents relied solely on me and I did my best not to disappoint them. Although it cost me another year because I had to rewrite the secondary school leaving certificate examination in the end my mom was healed and that was the biggest thing I wanted at that time.
WHAT LESSON DO I LEARN
I learned that in life, things can't always go the way we want them, and when we are faced with tough times we should try our best to make it work in our favor. Unforeseen circumstances can arise at any time in one's life, how you fought to be victorious is what matters the most. Truly tough times don't last only the tough people do.
Thanks for your time and your comments will be appreciated.
