Imagine if there were no security issues, no traffic and the risk of accidents has been reduced to the barest minimum... What would be your favourite mode of transport? Give us your reasons..
Before all the fear that comes with traveling by road, before all the insecurities and terrible roads in my country. I loved and fancied a good road trip.
I remember one time I had a road trip with my elder brother. You see me and my elder brother aren’t as tight and close as myself and my elder sisters. Yes we can have a good long gist when it’s necessary, we can laugh and tell jokes when In the same space but we were never too close to share personal and confidential matters with each other.
One day he had to visit his fiancé at her Serving orientation camp for the national youth service. He was going to bring her some goodies and food just because he missed her. Her serving state wasn’t so far off from the state we resided. A maximum of three hours and we would be there.
My elder brother asked me if I would love to go with him on a road trip, and I was more than happy to, although deep down I had thought to myself that it would be a silent boring trip because what could we possibly talk about or do?.
But I was wrong
That was the coolest day of both our lives, we listened to music, really loud music, we ate and drank while singing along to different hit songs of our choice. We even had good long hearty conversations and laughed to our hearts content. I still remember feeling really glad I had that time with him. It was a smooth ride and we got there in good time.
We saw her, played a little with her, gave her all the goodies we had carried along with us for her, he gave her some extra money and we bid each other goodbye. She was sad to see us leave but we just had to go and she had to stay and complete her three weeks. And then we had another fun ride back home.
I was really happy that day. For me road trips are fun and exciting. When I was unmarried and use to make road trips with my then boyfriend now husband to close by cities. It was always fun and the mere thought of it made me tingly. The time we spend just sitting in the car, singing along, and gisting, for me is always priceless. I feel the bond and love the time spent alone with him, just two of us, or sometimes two of us and a driver on days he doesn’t drive himself.
Road trips affords one the opportunity to bond and have the most pleasurable quality time with who ever you are taking the trip with. And for me quality time is one of my love languages so that’s why road trip is my favorite mode of transportation.
It also gives you the opportunity to see and know new places and landmarks, all the in between towns and villages. As well as enjoying Some beautiful work of nature that you would get to see along the road.
Although life has changed and roads are no longer save and secured as they used to be. I still recall from the year 2017-2018 how I travelled mostly by road to and from lagos. I would miss home and the next thing you know I am on the road heading home, then it wasn’t so bad and dangerous to a large extent. But with the way things are now, the most important for me is the safety of my life and property, so if you ask me right now what my favorite mode of transportation is I would tell you by Air.
It’s very fast and convenient and also the most safe at the moment in my country. It’s quite expensive but there is no price on life and so I can’t take chances.
I hope things get better in the near future and one can partake in the things one really loves without fear or danger.
