We meet different people in our life span; some are good, and some are bad. There are few who are legends. Every individual has their own characteristics and personality, by which they are remembered forever. From my experience, I have met different kinds of people with different mindsets and made many friends in my life, but losing a friend who is very close to you is an awful feeling that I wouldn’t wish on my enemy. This pain of watching your friend for the last time is terrible, and I have experienced it twice in my life.
I have already shared the story of my childhood friend, and now, I would like to share the story of a lady with a golden heart. I consider myself lucky that we met and that I got to learn a lot from her, both for my professional and personal life. I met her in 2015 when I was hired as a CSR and front desk officer in a courier company. Mam Urooj was our supervisor. She looked really strict to me at first, but as we worked together for a week or so, I came to know that she is strict only during work because she doesn’t like silly mistakes when everything has been taught well. Apart from that, she was such a jolly person, full of fun, and always made other people laugh with her jokes. She was a character like no other I had seen before. At first, I didn’t like her because of her attitude, or so I thought because we didn’t spend much time together. Another boy, who also recently joined just 15 days before my joining, and I were in the second shift and sat till midnight at the front desk, so we usually spent a lot of time talking about our managers and the environment. This other boy, who is now one of my best friends, used to tell me that she was really a nice person, but I always argued.
Later, in a month or so, we were asked to come early for training sessions, and that was when we got to know each other well. I was all wrong about her. She was a lady with a golden heart, and the reason I used this tag for her is because of how she lived her whole life for others. She never went selfish or thought about herself. The more time we spent together, the more respect she gained from us. She started working from an early age of 16, and by doing different fieldwork, she got the opportunity here. She really worked hard to gain and be in this position. She used to come from a long way, 25 km, using public transport. I even remember in heavy rain, when no one came, she was the first to be in the office, which shows how responsible she was. I was the second to be in the office that day because I was residing within walking distance from work.
She was 38 but single, living her life for her family, supporting them not out of compulsion or sorrow but with happiness. She had a lot of stories, and after listening to them, we were amazed at how she made herself so comfortable as if everything was all good. The way she trained us both, I must say it was amazing. She had the quality to train people well, and all the credit goes to her for whatever I know about logistics. She made our base strong by telling us everything in detail. I progressed well and achieved a manager position, and the credit goes to her. I know she would be very happy to see us at this position, but unfortunately, she left us all way before that.
In 2017, she was diagnosed with a serious disease that I don’t want to mention here. She was a strong woman and stood strong to fight against that disease. Literally, we both used to visit her daily at the hospital. She made us smile with her jokes in the hospital too. In November 2017, I went in the morning to meet her. She wanted chilled water, so I used to carry ice cubes for her. She was all good, and I went to the office from there. Just after two hours, we got the news from her mother that she was no more. I still remember her face when I saw her that morning, full of smiles, and I want to keep those memories forever. She was a wonderful human being, and there is a lot that I didn’t share in this post, but in short, she is always remembered with the tag “Golden Heart Lady.”
