Honesty is a great virtue, when we speak the truth people will always speak highly of us. Though most times we avoid saying the truth so as not to hurt the people around us, especially when we are trying not to ruin a friendship or relationship.
Recently I was added to a whatsapp group, though I haven't really bee active on whatsapp because I discovered there wasn't anything of interest for me there and most times I come back home exhausted after the day’s activity. I also muted the group because whenever I turn on my data different messages were always popping up but after an interesting story I read there I decided to unmute the group.

Few nights back, after a stressful day I got home tired but for some reason I decided to open my whatsapp and not just that I also decided to go through the messages in the group I was added to. Then I saw a story of a lady that went to her boyfriends place a week before the lovers day (valentine february 14). Two days before valentine her boyfriend had told her that a friend of his that stays in that same hostel had pleaded that his younger brother should sleepover at his place after the valentine party that they would be hosting in the hostel because his girlfriend who just came to town will be coming for the party and she'd be sleeping over too.
She agreed without asking much questions after all, she had no reason to. Few weeks later, she was going through her boyfriends phone which he permitted her to when she stumbled on his conversation with his friend from the hostel, what she saw made her wonder if her boyfriend had lied to her or if he was cheating.
So she decided to confront him about the valentine party night, because according to the chat she saw, her boyfriend had asked his friend to play along about the idea of his brother coming to sleep over, that he wanted his girlfriend to leave so he could enjoy the party and do stuffs he wanted to do without any restrictions. He tried explaining that he only said that because he thought telling her the truth about his real intentions wouldn't have worked and that was why he came up with that lie and that he didn't cheat on her that night. He tried to convince her that he would never cheat on her, but she didn't believe because he already lied to her once, what’s stopping him from lying to her again.
She later approached the friend of her boyfriend and lied to him that her boyfriend had told her the whole truth and that she only wanted to hear it from him and that was when her boyfriend’s friend spilled the whole secret.
He had told her everything about how her boyfriend had brought in another lady that night and slept with her. The girl had then pretended that everything was okay before going back to her boyfriend, telling him everything his friend just told her before walking away and never looking back.
The story made me wonder if I ever want to be in a relationship because I know that there isn’t anyway I would want to experience what she just did.
