Hello friends! Examination has no value without results. After each exam students eagerly awaiting for the result. The result considered a students present condition and it alarms about how improvement is needed. In the past the exam results was published on the division system in Bangladesh.

Above 80% marks - Letter marks
60 to 79%- First division
40 to 59%- Second division
33 to 39%- Third division
Till 2000 this system was continued. On those years of division system the top 20 scorer with above 80 marks in all subjects achieved tha stand mark on the Board.
They were honored by all. In the news papers thier photo were published. People from other places went to meet with them.
On that time achieving 80 percent marks was too hard. Only the brilliant and industrious students could achieve the letter marks in all subjects. So they got chance to admit in the best engineering or medical institutions of Bangladesh.
After the year 2000 the result system has been changed and division system replaced with grading system adopted several letters. The top most grade is A+ and the lowest is D grade. If fail then he gets F grade. To get A+ a student should achieve at least 80 percent marks. And for avoiding fail he needs to get at least 33% marks.
The final CGPA is determined by adding the grading points of the optional subject. It is more easier to get A plus than to stand on the board before. So a lot of students every year get GPA 5 which means they achieve A+ overall. The secondary and higher secondary exam results help the students to take a good preparation to adimit in a better University. The Universities take admission tests to select the best students. The admission test result depends on the results of SSC and HSC examinations and the admission test mark he gets. The grading system helps to differ better students from others.
It is not okey to scrap all the grade points and only publish their results simply using the pass/fail mathod. If it is done then the unqualified students can get the chance to admit into good institutions. So if it becomes the reality in that case the good students who actually deserve the good institutions will be cheated. So the current result system shouldn’t be changed. It is a good system for all. Even for higher education International Universities also required the grade points to apply in there for admission. The current CGPA system is internationally popular system. A student can be justified on his merit in every job sectors. If results can't define who is good and who is bad then this result actually do nothing.
Only pass/fail method may apply on the junior students who just started their educational journy. On that case it has no impact because the childhood is the period of learning basic education like writing alphabet, making sentence, learning easy basic maths etc. So in this period pass/fail method has not any bad effect. I think CGPA system in Primary school is not necessary. But from secondary school to higher education CGPA system is perfect.
