Hi friends! Internship is the practice period for the learners. Without internship a student can't be expert in their professional life. After finishing a long course of 5-7 years on various particular subjects the students need to do internship in some field. In my country generally physicians, doctors, engineers, diploma engineers, pharmacist, homeopathy students do internship after completing graduation or post graduation.
When they do internship it helps both the owner of the company and the students. If a company or medical hospital recruit new employees it will take a long time and also need to pay an amount of money. But intern students paid less than regular employees. So the institutions can save their money and earn more. The students after completing their degree they can't find any job so quickly.
So if they are paid in internship they can support themselves. When they were students they often fully depends on their family. Some of them teaches students privately for their pocket money. But that is not enough for them. I have a sister who admitted into a private medical college. His father bears the cost. Generally the cost of private medicmal college is 5 to 10 times high than the government one. So she could expect a minimum salary during her internship. After internship she tried to government job. In our country if a medical student wants to be a government doctor he has to seat for BCS exam. It is a very hard and competitive exam.
A student needs to admit in a coaching centre for the BCS preparation. It is costly too. It is very costly for a student of a poor or middle class family who studied in a government medical college in a low cost. If they are paid in internship it will help them a lot. I think some companies exploit interns but not all companies do this. Some companies paid a little amount which is kot emough even for the transport bill. So they helplessly complete their internship. If the students paid it helps them to give more concern in their duty. Because they are tension free and confidently do their work. If they are ill paid or no paid they have to search for another source for income besides internship. It hampers their learning.
So if a company gives a minimum payment to the interns though company expenses the students. If the company recruites new employees they will pay for them. So the company should recognise the interns as their temporary employees. Companies should fixed a minimum amount which is helpful for the interns as well as for the company’s earning. The both sides should be balanced. That it might not harmful for anyone. Companies can get better services and interns can achieve a vast knowledge from their working experience. They can achieve a good job and serve the best services to the nation.
If the government take any step to support financially to the interns and monitor them for ensuring the proper work experience and learning we will get more expert employees every year.
