Greetings!
One thing that's very important is that anybody that works must earn for what he or she is working for, being it as a worker or an intern.
Having said this, I would like to delve into the topic of the prompt which is all about, “paid interns.”
To start with, one thing that's certain and what we know interns to stand for is their act of learning and gaining experiences during that their period of internship.
However, just because they are learning and at the same time gaining experiences from the companies doesn't they should not be paid adequately and accordingly and this is because of the fact that some or let me say that, majority of them are useful to and for the company the way the normal or the permanent staff of the company are to the company.
So, just because of their usefulness to the company, they should be appropriately paid for the services rendered to the company as to me, they are also entitled to their rewards.
Aside from this, since the company is also making money and profit during the stay of the interns, then, they should be paid.
Also, this interns are in need of money for their upkeep, and just because they are learning and gaining experiences from their respective companies where they are doing internship doesn't mean they should not be rewarded for their little contributions to the company's growth.
Although, some of the interns are lazy and would not even do what they are expected to do at the company where they have been undergoing their internship.
For this category of lazy interns, I think the company can find a way to deal with them appropriately so that they would be willing to improve on the purpose to which they were in the company for. I have seen some interns not doing anything in the terms of learning or gaining experiences. So, this kind of person should not be tolerated as such as they are not adding any value to the company at stake nor are they doing themselves any good.
However, the deeds of the lazy ones among them must not represent the general deeds of all of them and for those that might have been working hard and bringing success to the company, they should be adequately and promptly rewarded for their contributions.
Although, it's not that they should be paid the actual amount given to the normal staff of the company, but just because they too would be in need of money, they should also be rewarded.
In conclusion and in my own opinion, the interns should be adequately rewarded for their contributions to the company and not for what they are being taught or the experience gained at the company and I'm of the belief that this would help to motivate them in doing more for the company.
This is my entry to week 214, episode 02 of the weekly Featured contest in the Hive Learners community.
