Greetings!
As children are the inheritance of God, they must not be handled with levity or ignorance and this is because they meant so much not to God alone but to everyone who knows their worth and cherishes them for who they are.
One thing I want us to know is that the way we care for them, the same way we are going to enjoy them, that's just the actual truth about children and what they stand for. So for this reason, children need not to be maltreated but cared for.
Having said so much about this, I would like to delve into the topic of the prompt before me which is all about, “ Adopting a child.”
Adopting a child is good and in my own understanding, anybody that's willing either barren or not, should be able to adopt a child. However, it should not be just for the fun if it and that's why I love the process through which people adopt a child which to me is the best process to curb the excessiveness of being a parent of the adopted child.
Had it been that the procedure or processes of adopting a child is not as thorough as it is, the way those adopted child would have been treated would have been something else and with the trauma of not having or not living to see their biological parents being faced by these children orphans, I don't see any reason why they should fall into the hands and homes of those who would not treat them as their own or a home they would be afraid of calling their own.
So, to me, I'm of the opinion that the stringent measure being put in place by the government and orphanages house is the best way to protect the rights of the ward or child who is to be adopted by those in need of them or let me say those who desire to have them as their kids.
If the measure is not put in place, some wicked people would just turn these children into something else. They might even turn them into slaves, housemaids or even maltreat them on a daily basis.
I have on so many occasions seen how people maltreated other people's children that are living with them. Some time ago when we were living in a neighbourhood in Osogbo, Osun state of Nigeria, a lady Tawakalt, who happened to be a family member of the wife, was living with a family and throughout her stay with that family, she was maltreated and always punished. Atimes, she would be accused of what she's not done. This was what she was passing through until her mother came for her and took her away.
Thank God she has a mother, what if she doesn't have anyone to come for her and maybe the law is not even helping her to be free, that would have been the way she would have ended her life with that family and her journey would have been filled with sadness of all time.
So, I would rather let the red tape process of adopting a child stay rather than going for the easy method and this is because of the right of the child who would at the end be at the centre of what might come with the adoption. Anyone who would not follow the process shouldn't be allow to adopt and in case there's a hiccup with those that follow the process, they should also be hold responsible.
This is my entry to week 217, episode 03 of the weekly featured contest in the Hive Learners community.
