Hello beautiful people of Hive, it's great to have you on my blog 🤗🤗
For this edition of the engagement prompt given by the Hive Learners Community, I'll be talking about something very interesting; my little girl memories.
Memories are like pictures carried across the wind till the path of those who had them and the feelings or circumstances that brought the memories intersect again...
Funny definition right? 😇
Well not as funny as the one I am going to be sharing with you of my childhood days. Although there are so many memoriees I have of myself when I was a little girl; funny, painful, scary, beautiful; those days when I didn't have a care in the world but to eat, sleep and play, school work was secondary for me but I'll pick the one that really stood out for me and I think was the earliest.
My older sister was my best friend. We did everything together. I knew all the songs she knew (though this is not the case now due to you know what... social, environmental and technological changes), we went to Church together, hid behind the house to play chef with my Mum's kitchen utensils 😅 and alas took heavy lashes of the cain together.
One beautiful afternoon when we were playing "Tic tac toe", I didn't like the way she kept winning me all the time; like she was in my head and knew exactly when I was going to strike.
I felt oppressed because she was older and smarter so I thought of a way to get back at her and finally be called a winner. Then a very silly thought came to my mind which I didn't hesitate to tell her. We were going to play "Hide and Seek."
You may be thinking what's the big deal about the game and I wouldn't stand a chance against her but I had my master plan.
I thought of where to hide so she won't be able to catch me until she got scared and crying, looking for me.
We had two refrigerators in my parents room at the time, but one stopped working and we kept it aside to be repaired.
I thought that it will be the perfect place to hide so my sister won't be able to find me so easily.
Now you would think that I went to hide in the one that was spoilt; no that would have made it too easy for my sister to find me so I hid right inside the one that was working. Fortunately for me, there was no electrical power so it wasn't very cold inside.
Having a small body because I was about 5 years old then, I was able to fit comfortably inside the 4' feet refrigerator.
My sister spent hours looking for me just like I predicted till she became scared, thinking that someone had come to kidnap me and she started crying, feeling bad that she did not take good care of me as my older sister.
Hearing her call my name in fear made me feel so bad coupled with the cold in the fridge soon, I started shaking inside and made some noises that my sister heard and traced down to my parents' room behind the door, and when she quietly opened the fridge, she found little me inside, shivering heavily.
At that point, I didn't know what to say but something in me made me scream "I'm here" so we could laugh it off but it wasn't funny to her. I made her so scared that she wasn't in the mood for any more plays and warned me never to try it again.
Till today, she still reminds me of this incident and we have a good laugh about it.😅😅
I'm sure you had some beautiful memories too as a child, I would love to know about them in the comment section.
Till next time...
