Technology is a very good tool in education, it helps to make teaching and learning more easier. The importance of technology in education cannot be underplayed.
When I was in school, University to be precise, I don't really make use of e-books because I prefer reading from my hand-outs and note books, nevertheless i still read online atimes when I need to get more knowledge about a thing or two. Reading online was not my thing because I easily get distracted with notifications from my social media apps, before I know it I'll have moved from my browser to WhatsApp and the likes checking and replying to messages, lols...
This does not connote that I do not make use of technology in one way or the other just as have stated earlier because I still use my phone for assignments and gets some information when it's time for presentation my phone helped me alot in these aspects. Also in my final year when I was writing my project, I can't say how far technology made my project to be a very easy one.

Technology is a good tool for education because looking at it from the olden days how students lay hold of educational materials, they are only used to books because there's nothing like ebooks at all, if you need to study more you need to get more and more textbooks, and the stress of carrying them all around is something else, or probably visit the library etc. But we're now in the jet age where everything is now digital. You get the information you want within the blink of an eye with just a click or two on your phone or gadget.
Twenty-thirty years ago I don't think there is anything like writing exams using the computer system but now, many schools have embraced Computer Based Test (CBT) and even external exam bodies like JAMB, their exams are now computer based.
How technology helped education is not only on e-learning.Technology gave birth to Global System for Mobile communications (G.S.M) with this device, communication is now very easy and also getting information is more easier as well.
I can remember when I was in school, my department has a WhatsApp group that we get updates from, like lecture time, when we will be writing a test, when to submit assignment, and updates on so many things that's going on in the school. Without technology how possibly can we reach ourselves from far distance just in time, I think no way. Even those that were far away from school gets information from this WhatsApp group and sometimes put a call through to our course representative or anyone they can contact to get information.

Since the time of COVID, many schools have embraced e-learning, I know of some secondary and Tertairy institution that started teaching and learning from home, whereby the students will log in to a particular platform and join classes through video, not just classes alone the teachers or lecturers also give assignments and tests to the students and submission will also be done via these online platforms. I know of a friend that was doing his master's program, they had series of classes online before they returned to classroom teaching due to the COVID distancing rule then.
In the future I see virtually all schools practising e-learning where students can have classes even from the comfort of their homes. Many things will be Introduced that will make learning more easier than how it's now. Just like the students I teach presently in school, most times I use projector to teach my students and each student already has his/her own personal computer to practise whatever I teach them. Learning made easy.
Whereas in our own time teaching was offline, the only thing you read from is your note. Very few of us had access to phones, computers and the internet. Technology will continue to make education more interesting.
