social media is an interactive medium that enhance the creation and sharing of information. It can be regarded as a form of communication. more than 70% of the youths nowadays are on one social media or the other. E.g Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, Tiktok, WhatsApp etc.
With the help of social media you can now communicate effectively with someone in far away distance or someone you don't even know physically, it has also made many meet their benefactors and on the other hand social media has also made scamming easy, people lie alot on social media, infact I do tell people that if you should base your life on what you see on social media you'll have yourself to blame.
I have once met a girl on Facebook app some years back... we do chat alot, sometimes we chat till midnight, we do send each other pictures of ourselves, this girl never sent me her full picture what she do send is just a picture showing her face but I never count it as a big deal as I was so much in love 😍😍 with her already. And then it was time for us to meet each other, she kept postponing our meeting, she always has one excuse or the other still I didn't notice something was fishy, as I was blinded with love already.
one faithful day, I told her it's either that day or no other, if she can't make it that day that she should just forget about me, she had no other choice than to show up. And so we agreed to meet at one of the restaurants in town. Hmm not all that glitters are gold... I saw this girl and I couldn't believe she was one, she was more or less like a dwarf and also had bowlegs. I feel like crying 😭😭but we were in public... I can't imagine she's the one I have been wasting my time on all this while. All the night calls, 2go chat, Facebook chat and all it was all in the mud. You can't imagine how I left that scene.
And right from that time I learnt my lessons not to take any relationship on social media seriously.
And then for me I think it's bad to be updating one's love life on social media. I could remember a Nigerian celebrity once took selfie in his bedroom, unknown to him that his wife was half naked behind him, he had posted it before he later realized that his wife also showed in the picture. The picture trend for that period, and of course it was too late to delete because it had already went viral.
Social media is good but alot of people had abuse it already.
In conclusion, social media has caused more harm than good.
