It's evident ad I agree to the fact that no man is an island of knowledge, we all learn from one another... moreso, we all are different and unique in our special ways, we should respect each other ideas. Personally I love to work with people that are ready to learn and can also contribute their quota towards achieving a good result at something, not just the dormant or inactive members that are easily tossed here and there.
In my church I use to be the youth choir master before I traveled due to the nature of my work, we were planning to do youth anniversary just like every other year as we've been doing, and so whenever it's our anniversary like that, we the youth choir normally sing two songs on thanksgiving Sunday, one will be a thanksgiving song and the other will be a song that goes along with the theme, it's mostly about repentance, so we are expected to compose or find a song that goes well with it.
I could remember vividly the last two we did, it was glorious to the glory of God, we had a wonderful time in God's presence.
But this year we had a new president, a youth president... this guy always wants things to go his own way, just as he wants it without even considering other people's idea, I wonder how that kind of leader would last anyways, because I think a leader should also listen to the opinions of other members or executives. But no, our new leader wants things to be done in his own way.
So after we've decided on what to do and the kind of songs to sing just as we've always done, unfortunately our new president said we can't sing two songs but just one because there's no much time, this looks like it's not a big deal but it's really a big deal because these people have worked so hard, sacrifice their precious time for rehearsals but then it got to the day of the anniversary and even few minutes to choir ministration, the president decides that we sing just one song, this made a lot of people angry that I had to start begging other choir members to calm down so we could settle things after the anniversary, because it won't be nice if the church could notice a fight or argument in the choir section during church service.
Our youth anniversary use to be lively but this time around it was just the opposite, people weren't singing wholeheartedly because of the decision of that one person. After the whole thing, we had to talk some sense into him, so as to avoid such decisions again. We're a team and we should work like one not just doing things as one person wants it but we should work and do things as the majority or all have agreed.
The problem was not that we had to sing one sing instead of two but him just taking desicions on his own without our consent, made everyone very angry, besides it was not his first. He has been doing this for a while, but it was the right time make corrections.
