High school was fun with physical education, unfortunately I didn't have enough time for that in University. I'm a lover of football right from time, from my elementary school, we usually do inter house sport and sometimes we play football match with some schools around.
You'll definitely find me on the football pitch whenever it's time for P.E even though our house masters always made sure that we all partake in race which I'm not too good at, I prefer football one million times lols.
In High school thank God I had the time to play football to my satisfaction, during breaks you'll find me on the field playing football, but there was a time like that, we wanted to do inter house sport, I knew I can't run that much, I just wanted to try my luck, doing the preparation stage and screening, I went to train with the sprinters and with just one race, I was disqualified lol... I fell down some seconds after we started the race, so that made me came last, because other sprinters were almost at the finish line already before I could get up, for me it was an embarrassing situation and to make matters worst, for just a 100 metre race and I was breathing heavily like I ran the full field.
Due to this, I need no prophet or soothsayer to tell me that running was not my thing, I just declined and went for what I truly love, which is football. One would say in football the players also run, yeah but there's a slight difference between the two sport, you may not know how to run too well and still be a very good player. A Nigerian player Nwankwo Kanu is a very good example. Apparently, he can't run that much due to his health condition but he's a very good player, he even won many trophies and awards including the African best player.
I think I'm a good player too for those that knows me on the pitch, though I just play for fun, but if I should see anyone that's interested in signing me lols, I will quickly clean my boot again and head to the pitch, footballers are enjoying life now especially the ones abroad.
There was a time we organise inter class competition, I was in SS ONE, and we have up to five arms. In my class I was one of the best footballer but other classes also has many good footballers too.
To cut the story short, we qualified for the final round together with SS ONE (blue) I was in yellow class.
We had played ninety minutes but there was no goal at all, but then the official gave us five minutes added time and just a minute before the end of the match, we were awarded a penalty due to a foul committed by our opponent in the 18 yard box. Of course there was jubilation from our fans even though we haven't scored yet but our opponent were lamenting.
Order came from the coach that I should take the penalty but then I was afraid because I knew it was a critical moment, my actions will determine whether we will win or not. I just summoned courage that what will be will be.
Luckily for me I took the penalty and scored, it was the last minute already so the referee blew his whistle for the end of the match. I was happy I didn't fumble and I also didn't let my fear overpower me.
It's good to learn how to overcome one's fear because it will damage us if we don't, I was able to live above my fears and that made us victorious. I also learnt to never give up no matter how many times you've tried. We played for ninety minutes yet no goal and just the very last minute, we won. Giving up is not an option.
