New year celebration just passed but then there is one that the memories never passed, one that I will never get to witness again....
Hi beautiful people of hive,
Here I want to tell you about my best New Year Celebration ever and I am talking of no other one than the one of 2012.
The memories are still clear in my head like it just happened.... Maybe that's why it's indeed one I'll never get to see again.
My family and I live at Onitsha, Anambra State in Nigeria and we are Christians of the Roman Catholic denomination. I won't say I'm the church guy (I'm not the devil's either) but then I was and am still an Altar Server, what most popularly call Mass Servers (Man Server as the case may beπ).
As an Altar Server and a good one at that, I am mostly included in "high prolific masses" and amongst this was the New Year Eve celebration Masses.
Serving on the Altar that very moment always made my New Year Celebration moderate in a way... Not that the mass itself made me that way but then as someone just coming out from the Altar, I sure did have to set some boundaries as to what I will do that night.
Let's Get Down To 2012.
What happened this particular year was that we travelled to my hometown and guess what, it was Enugu and then, I am not officially an Altar server there in my church....(Yes! You are right with what you are thinking)
It meant I was not going to serve on the Altar that very night and then I was permitted in my little mind to let heaven loose with whatever I want to do then and I certainly didπ
Now prior to that day, I got some loads of "knockouts" for the Christmas celebration but I didn't use it... Don't know what just told me to reserve it for the Crossover night and I listened.
Within the week, I also got few Naira notes (courtesy of my new beautiful dress and uncles that came around) and got more "knockouts" in preparation for the New Year Eve.
The time was finally upon us and there I was at the back seat of the church dressed to kill...I did kill a fowl afterwards π.
My friends and I were fully prepared for the night and trust guys, as the Mass was going on, we made new friends and you know what that means?
It meant we just got more number on our side and the bigger the number, the more the fun.
Unfortunately for the priest, he didn't finish before 12am(00:00) and he left us no choice than to start what we've already planned out (God have mercy upon usππ)
We brightened up the area immediately with loud fireworks of different brands... it was so loud that the priest couldn't hear himself.
Next was that we saw people running down to us ( I later heard he instructed them to go get us) and you wouldn't like to hear what happened next..... We took to our heels as fast as we could and that was how my church that day ended.
We ran immediately and met people that vibe the way we do, then, assembled a tire in an open space and started fire immediately.
This was to provide an endless source of light used in lightening up the knockouts.
We threw them at people coming back from church and they ran for their dear lives and you needed to see the joy we had as they did so π.
The highlight of the night was when we gathered more than 100 pieces of 8-Rounds knockout stick, lined them side by side digging a little hole to serve as support in a way that the first has a contact with the second and that the second has a contact with the third and so on.
We finished arranging them and then lit up the first one and the first one automatically lit up the second and the second to the third down to the very last one of them and you can imagine what happened..... The endless sound of tata-ta-ta-tata was so thrilling that you can't hold out the joy.
I remember retiring for the night that very day around 4am or thereabout when I was already tired.
The next morning, I woke up to enjoy a freshly cooked Okpa and Pap π
Why This Was My Best Amongst Tons To Come:
Honestly looking at all that happened back then in 2012, it's not as if there's anything there ( food or "knockouts") that I can't replicate now but what I can't replicate is the risk, the rough plays et all (when all you had to do was eat, sleep, drink and play)
I can get those knockouts more now but you know I am certainly not going to do that.... Oh c'mon, I have other important things to do with my money rather than entertaining you with fireworks, you can go and watch them on Televisionsπ.
That's it, there are Responsibilities and mental growth now..... These two will deny you the child in you so I guess, I'm not ever going to experience that.
New Year nights are now for complete Church Mass while New Year days are now for sleepπ
