“Every experience is a positive experience if I view it as an opportunity for growth and self-mastery.”
_Brian Tracy
Most times, we've often seen people make use of proverb, "Experience is the best Teacher" when it denotes negative impression but when we look deep into most of these experiences, we will understand that we've learnt a lot and became better men from those experiences.
Reading about what happened to others and discussing about them most times almost never makes great impacts on us as those ones we experience ourselves
Nah! Don't get me wrong, we shouldn't wait to experience all the bad things before we thread with caution but I'm just trying to say that the impacts of the ones we experienced personally is never comparable with the ones we've read nor heard.
The Good Experience:
As the Lord may have it, I succeeded in getting a laptop when I was in my second undergraduate year in the University.
I was very happy about this and as someone who loves playing games a lot, it was very obvious I would love to install them in my newly acquired laptop so that it saves me the time of going to my friend's room to play games whenever I want to.
As against my wish, my friend discouraged me from doing that and I was very angry about that.
Oh! My favourite PES/FIFA Football Games.
My friend is studying Estate Management and I am studying Medicine and surgery (He literally had leisure time to spare more than I did because of the discipline we are studying)
He tried telling me how the game consumes his time a lot but he always bounced back in his academics because he had much time and offered fewer courses than I did.
When he saw how persistent I was in getting the game, he finally gave me the game and I was very happy.
Unknown to me that I got myself wahala( trouble)
I told myself that I would never allow the game take my time as I would only play them whenever I want and shut the laptop down whenever I want ( just dey play).
Sooner or later, I discovered the Master's League in the game where I got to be the manager of a club (having all the powers of a real manager; buying players and selling them inclusive) and still play the games.
It was very addictive and story cut short, I found myself playing this all night without opening my books.
Days past... Weeks followed and then a month was the next.
I recovered myself when the exam timetable dropped and I noticed how I have just placed myself on a hot plate just because of the game.
I had to read like a mad man to cover what I've already missed and regretted ever buying laptop.
The Good Lesson:
Will you believe I still have those games in my laptop even as I write this post and still play them?
The only difference is that now, I already learnt self-discipline.
That was what that experience taught me.
Nowadays, I play those games for relaxation but even before I start, I would tell myself when to stop and I always sticked to it because of the bad experience I had when I didn't adhere to that.
This virtue has helped me not only in controlling my gaming habit but in literally everything I do in life.
The Bad Experience:
It happened in 2020 that a particular Polo was in circulation, you might even know the Polo.
Picture is Mine
I was never a fan of trendy designs but somehow somehow I felt this would be different so I went ahead and bought this Polo.
Just a week after buying it, I discovered I had made the worst mistake of my life 😅.
The Polo was everywhere, worn by almost everyone in town doing different jobs.
It was so abused that I was scared of wearing mine😂.
I ever regretted buying that Polo till today because I wore that Polo just once and had to give it to my younger sister as I couldn't wear it again.
Ever since then, I've always searched deep for unique fashion styles I wear.
Thanks for reading and have a nice day👍
