And now what about me & what does Christmas to me ?
As you already know, I come from Aceh Indonesia with the majority of the population being Muslim and of course I am a Muslim, so I have never celebrated Christmas in my life, but I have had several Christian friends when I was in college and I feel happy when I see friends I celebrate Christmas, and for us it is very emphasized to be tolerant of religions, so we can be friends with all religions, but we have never celebrated holidays that differ from our beliefs but we support each other in the name of love & brotherhood .
it can be said that in my city Aceh Christians are a minority, but the great thing that you need to give a thumbs up is that Christians living in Aceh have never felt pressured (discriminated) for all the worship activities they carry out, Christians will celebrate every Christmas together family, friends and loved ones in the church, some time ago they also celebrated Easter by bringing a statue of Jesus around town and they were safe without any disturbance from the majority religion, so here we want to set an example to the world " how to live tolerantly", and so far in my city of Aceh no one has tried to compare religions between one religion and another.
and the following is the number of adherents of Christianity in aceh, quoted from Wikipedia: Christianity is the second largest minority religion in Aceh followed by 50,309 Protestant Christians and 2,315 Catholic Christians. The total population of Aceh who adheres to Protestants and Catholics is 53,315 people or around 1.19% of the 4,494,410 inhabitants of Aceh.[1] While the number of churches recorded as many as 154 churches standing throughout Aceh. Wikipedia
why is tolerance so thick in Aceh? maybe you have a question like that !!
لَكُمْ دِيْنُكُمْ وَلِيَ دِيْنِ
For you your religion and to me my religion. - Qur'an Surah Al Kafirun ayat 6.
and this is the answer, for us Muslims have been taught by our parents from an early age to tolerate siblings who have different religions, so we don't make religion a reason to be hostile, but on the contrary, we make religion a way to build brotherhood with someone from different countries, different cultures, different skin colors, different languages & different religions, and religion has made us to have good faith to anyone who has different beliefs from us, in our daily life we are not justified if something is implied in our hearts which is not good for other religions because it will tarnish the sanctity of our beliefs, so let's not hurt people of different religions, having intentions alone is not justified for us, and that will be a sin for us.
so Christmas for me is "a tolerance & fraternity", I have a lot of Christian friends, but I never know anything about the church and vice versa, I've never confused anyone with my beliefs, so everyone will easily relate to me without worrying about religious issues, I believe that religion is a creature's business with its God, so I don't have any right to confuse the religion of other people who are different from mine, so once again Christmas for me is "a tolerance & fraternity".
so if you have ever heard someone say that Christians in Aceh are despised, believe me they are lying to you, to prove what I am saying is true, please come to Aceh and celebrate Christmas with your friends, and 💯 people will never will disturb you, if there is (percentage 0.00000001) then that person will be considered a terrorist and will be taken to prison with the maximum sentence.
if I can personally make some kind of request for Christian friends at the Christmas event which is coming up in a few days, then please allow me to do that;
treat all Muslim minorities in your country like your own brothers, we in Aceh do not differentiate between one another, Christians in Aceh are our countrymen, so I really hope you can provide space for Muslim minority brothers in your city .
Merry Christmas to our Christian brothers, I hope you celebrate with joy with your family, and hope you have a great days.
thank you very much for visiting my blog, Christmas for me is a "tolerance & fraternity", thanks for the communication Hive-learners for holding a great contest, see you all in the next post with a different topic.
