If you go to one of the tropical forest areas for hunting or other things, don't be surprised if you find a beauty that you have never found anywhere else even you have never found such beauty in your life, I am sure you will grumble in your heart, Why is beauty always hidden? why do I have to go through many obstacles first to be able to see the natural beauty that the universe has.
I don't know how to explain how I felt, when I first saw this beautiful woman standing alone, while all around her were forest bushes, I looked carefully and saw that the red flower standing in front of me was one of the most frequent flowers. consumed by the public, I did not know that this flower plant grows in shrubs.
This beautiful flower is "kecombrang" while in scientific language it has the title "Etlingera elatior" which is a type of spice plant that is widely found in Indonesia, especially on the islands of Java & Sumatra, the plant has been consumed by the community for centuries because the plant is believed by the public to have health benefits, apart from that the plant also has a distinctive aroma so that every dish seasoned with kecombrang will have a very-very special aroma.
Kecombrang, kantan, or honje are a kind of spice plant and are annual plants in the form of herbs whose flowers, fruit and seeds are used as vegetable ingredients. Other names are honje (Sunda), kincung (Medan), Bungong Kala (Aceh), Bunga Makeup (Tapanuli), Asam Cekala (Karo), Kumbang Sekala (Lpg.), Sambuang (Mng.) and Funny (Banyuwangi). with the appearance of flower petals that are neatly arranged and that makes the kecombrang look more cohesive and different from other types of flowers, the kecombrang will usually flower once a year and is easier to find in tropical forests than in residential areas, the kecombrang flower will last up to one year. months after blooming, it slowly changes color from red to black, and if you are a cake maker then you can partake in the flower after all parts of the flower turn black.
when it blooms usually the kecombrang flower will often be visited by wasps to suck the flower essence, yeah these animals are a little dangerous, so it is highly recommended when you touch the kecombrang flower to be more careful so you don't get bitten by the wasps which will make you endure the pain.
