Please be kind :)
The One Virtue
What is that one virtue you believe everyone must have. You can forgive everything else if they have that one virtue. What is it for you? And how often have you been hurt by those who lacked it? Please share with us.
Hello everyone, today a new week started which means a new topic for the Hive Learners community. It's definitely a topic I lile to write about, although not being an easy one. But nevertheless I'll try to do my best to right my opinion in a decent article. So here we go!
The one virtue
Sorry for recycling the title of thz topic as a subtitle but I think it fits here perfectly. Why do I repeat it? Well, in my opinion it's really hard to choose only one virtue. As I really want peopme to be honest, don't lie to me... I also enjoy it when people respect made rules or appointments. Besides that I want people to have patience, etc etc. So I want a lot of people, although all of these aspects seem pretty logical for me that people should have them. But if I really have to choose one, than I would go for be kind. In general I live by the principle of you can do whatever you like as long as you don't harm others in any way (indirect harm is harm as well). But to extend it I would say be kind to people.
Be kind? Yes!
Ofcourse the question arises what does it mean to be kind to people? This is definitely not a question easy to answer and there are a lot of aspects involved so I'll rather try to give an image than to define it completely. As I think I'll otherwise forget important factors.
What I mean with 'be kind' is mostly present in the little things of everyday's life. For exmple when you meet someone, I'll always try to say hello. I already talked about this in a comment recently but as most people don't know my comments I'll elaborate more in this article. As a child or even as a teenager I never had the attitude of saying hello to say hello to strangers, for exampme the bus driver or someone passing by on a walk or the person controlling the train tickets, etc. But one day there was an elder person crossing me on a bike lane and he wished me a fine day. I didn't know the man, probably had never seen him but he still wished me a good day. This moment touched me in such a way that since that moment I'll always try to atleast say hello. Sometimes it even opens up an interesting conversation as I already had a couple on my train journeys. See it as a way of connecting in irl life, outside of Hive ;)
At work
At work as well, I'll say hello to everyone, we're colleagues in the end. Some say it back, some don't but I'll keep saying it. But in a certain degree I expect some kindness back as well. People don't have to jump for me but when they help me out spontaneously, could be something very small, I'll always try to be grateful towards them.
Sometimes it doesn't work
Sometimes it doesn't work and people simply aren't kind. Ofcourse I don't like it but usually I'll just ignore it and I'll avoid that person. Especially when it's really his/her character (as everyone could have a bad day / moment in which he wasn't kind as has grief of being so).
Be kind
As change always start with yourself, I truly do my best to be what I ask of others. Do I have bad days, yes! Could I be sometimes be not kind, definitely yes! Is it okay? No! Do I try to become a better person, definitely YES aswell. Ofcourse being kind applies to everywhere, at school/work, in your spare time, offline, online, at night, etc. So it's relevant on Hive as well. So I'll end with a wish:
Please be kind for your fellow Hivians!
(And other people, animals, stuff, nature,...)
