Hello everyone, this is my first time posting on Hive Learners and participating in #creative-sunday through an invitation from in my comment section on my last post about collage, this is a great opportunity for me to stay productive weekly creating a collage to share.
Giant Space Larvae
I want to share my excitement in making digital collage works, lately I have been thinking a lot about sci-fi themes and this work is also influenced by it, this collage is inspired by the Dune movie with its giant worms that are ready to devour anyone who is on the dune.
I depicted a scene of a person spotting a giant creature with drone from a distance and guarded by robot who ready to protect in times of need - The person only wanted to take documentation of the giant larva for research purposes on this newly discovered planet.
I worked on this collage with Affinity Photo and created some GIFs with PhotoScape - for the work page size I used A3 with 300DPI and landscape orientation which took about 2 hours.
I used some materials for the collage from various public domain image sources which I will include the sources at the end of the post.
Here are steps in making this collage :
Landscape setting
A desert photo that fits perfectly with my desire for a sci-fi theme inspired by the movie Dune, the sky was removed to be replaced with a dark sky.
Dark sky with moon-like
Dark starry sky with a moon-like one, adding to the scifi vibe.
Creatures, Robot, Person and the Drone
I then placed the Larva, robot, person and drone - Adjusted their placement to make the composition fit.
Change of mind
After thinking and observing, it seemed less interesting with the worm for this collage, so I decided to use the larva at the back to become the main object of the Giant Larvae.
Adjust
At this stage I again changed the position of the Larva and the Drone to make them more pleasing to the eye - Last but not least is lighting, adding an layer FX to each object to adjust the darkness of light with Outer and Inner Shadow and color overlay adjusted opacity and with color blending.
The Final Step
To add to the impression, I slightly added lighting effects to the eyes of the drone controller and the light shining from the drone.
