Truly the saying "all that glitters isn't gold" is a right saying and when we really look at how the world is coming about we truly know that yeah all that shines so beautifully isn't all good there surely are certain setbacks to it.
Giving the story of a street neighbor who is an example of this saying, this isn't to mock her predicament but for her story to be shared so others can really pick some lessons from it and do better with their own life.
Shola was a girl who everyone in our street admired for her exceptional beauty and brains, her mom never missed anytime to praise her whenever she achieved something big, like a successful exam, or bringing home an award for best something from school, everyone loved her and everyone wanted their kids to be like her including my dad. My dad had these high expectations of us, but he didn't always have the right manner of approach to telling us how to live our lives, instead, he always compared us with shola, every time it was that girl is good, that girl is nice, she is this, she is that At a point my parent quarreled over this matter of my dad comparing us to her, after a while it didn't always us as much as it did before because we knew he wouldn't stop talking about it.
Years went by and Shola still was the reigning child in the community, then one day something happened, she started dressing in a manner that we haven't seen before, it was still her mum that still spread the need that someone was going to sponsor her child abroad, we were happy unknown to us what the real story was about, her mother too starter changing attires and wouldn't talk to the likes of my mum again, maybe to her, they were below her standard,
Then the unthinkable happened after some months. One Night we heard a scream from down the street. And since it wasn't that late everyone used out to see what was going on, after we all ran to the scene, we found Shola on the ground in a pool of her own pool and her mum trying to carry her up, until some guys came to help her and took her to the nearest hospital, it was a street brother that later came to tell us should field from losing so much blood.
Then the story came out, shola's mother had been prostituting her daughter for years now and that was why she always gave her everything she wanted, but this time that God said finally it was enough, according to the street brother, this was the 4th time she was having an abortion done and it was the final, because her mother wanted to look classy and make her children also look classy, which now resulted to a terrible thing.
My mum then drew my dad's attention to the fact that he always compared us to her, meaning it wasn't all that the eye saw that was the real deal. This story just fit this hive learners prompt for this edition and thank God I was reminded of it
