What is Déjà Vu ?
Déjà Vu is literally translated from French to mean “already seen.” It is a sense of having already seen something—coupled with knowing you haven’t actually seen it, which is why it catches many people so off guard. It is thought to be the equivalent of a small brain “glitch,” with two streams of thought colliding.
Who remembers the movie "Matrix"? When I read the topic, I instantly thought of the scene in the movie where Neo watched a cat go past him, but when another cat who was exactly like the first one did the same, you know what happened next. This isnt a movie review lolzz
There are many instances when i have felt that a particular incident that happens has actually occurred before. Sometimes it happens when i am with my family, and when someone says something that i might have thought had happened before, i will be like, "Jessy, have you not said something like this before?" and then i will be like, "Is it my imagination?"
I recall an incident where I was at my mother's house talking to my sisters about a specific person, a church member in fact, when my mother got up from her chair and went to answer the door because someone had knocked. She answered the door to find a customer who wanted to buy something, but since they had just moved, business wasn't really booming, so she informed the customer that she didn't have any items for sale at the moment. My mother's expression changed as the young boy left, and when I looked at her, I thought this scene had happened before. Before she could respond, I said, "Mummy, don't worry, everything will be fine," and at that precise moment, her words once again made it seem as though I had actually experienced that moment before.
According to my research Over 97% of people1 are believed to have had this experience at least once, with more than two-thirds of people reporting that they have it on a frequent basis.
Did that moment have an impact?
Well, what I felt at the time was that I wished I was very okay, like wealthy, to give my mum the kind of life she would have wanted and at her age she wouldn't have to do so much tedious work, and I felt that maybe the reason I felt that way was because I was always thinking about things I would do for my mum, or also because I felt for her, because she engages in a lot of hard work and I wouldn't want her to breakdown.
There have been many other instances of this dejavu, but I don't always take them seriously or remember them. I believe the reason I can recall this one is because I have plans in the works to change that situation.
Why do I believe this happens sometimes? It could be because we need to remember something and then the deja vu happens to help us remember, but it could also be coincidence. The thing is that we know it is not a harmful experience.
Which brings me to remember another incident that occurred. I was in church one day when our pastor was preaching, and just before he finished, he said something that made the entire congregation laugh. Then that flashback came, and it felt like this part of life had already occurred. We may not know why this brain glicth occurs, but sometimes it just feels like you've had a dream about that thing before. The only thing that I am grateful for is that it doesn't affect ones life negatively.
