It's really painful that our society prioritizes profit over passion, and this have lead to many losses, especially in our medical fields.
You find thousands of undergraduate study medical courses, not because thay have a passion for it, but because they are more focused on the profit and riches , than saving the lives of people.
And this is the primary causes of mistakes and high rates of death in most hospitals.
Being profit oriented is good, that's the essence of working, but prioritizing financially benefits over the well being of others is unkind.
Looking more at the financial benefit over your interest or passion could lead to many damages.
Not learning your field of study appropriately due to lack of passion and interest, and being confidence enough to handle a persons health is really unkind, when you have a passion for a field, it will reduce the rate of losses, occupational hazard and many more damages.
Because being passionate about a particular career create a a good impact on others, create positive outcomes , care , kindness and enhances good performance.
Last year, I got alot of advice and pressure from my mom and her sisters to go back to school and study nursing or attend a college of nursing in the east, and their major concern was the financial benefits and profit, they were more interested in the job opportunities and easy travelling opportunity that comes with being a nurse, but they forgot I can barely look at blood, the sight of blood could make me throw up, I can't even watch a nurse insert a needles on others , so definitely I can't do it myself, nursing is a course I can't handle and I have never had Passion for medical courses, science courses where the most difficult for me and I never read them to understand but rather to pass the examinations.
My aunt kept talking about the numerous benefits and how I still have enough time to chase nursing as a second degree, what was really funny about it was the fact that my first degree wasn't science related, and taking that route will be completely new to me.
After the pressure and advice, I told them I never had an interest or passion for nursing and accepting a course that involves taking care of people and individuals totally relying on you for survival without a passion for it could be extremely dangerous and could cause hazard.
I tried as much as I could to end that idea.
It doesn't end in the health sector, also our educational system in now about profit and not about inculcating knowledge on the kids , you find schools increasing tutor fees and not employing professional teachers, that's because they don't want to pay well, instead they look for less qualified teachers and pay less.
It's no longer about the passion to inculcate knowledge on kids , but a scheme to fetch more money from parents and guardians.
Career choices should be guided by passion and interest, the passion and interest you have for a particular field should guide your decision making.
I know we are in a society where certain career are more respected than others, but our decisions shouldn't be guided by societal standards or choices, but rather passion and interest.
This is the best way to get back today career choices where made base on choices and not financial gain .
Parents should also stop pressurizing kids to study courses that they have no passion or interest in studying, they should be more concerned on passion and not profit, I know kids can come up with wierd career choices , but the pressure to make them change career choice should be stop.
Passion and interest should be prioritized in career choices and not financial gain or profit .
