Hi guys, I believe everyone is doing well. This thing called equality does it even exist? I think everyone is created equally but as we grow, some people will be better than others because of how they train themselves.
Equality: is the equal treatment of people irrespective of their culture or social differences.
Gender equality: is when people of all genders have equal rights, responsibilities and opportunities. Gender equality helps to prevent violence against both genders most especially the female gender.
When we talk about equality the first thing that comes to a person's mind is the female gender. The female gender is underestimated and thought to be weak which is wrong.
I believe in equality but we as humans lack it. I have seen a lot of places and people where there is inequality. The men think that the women shouldn't work or earn a living that all they should do is take care of the house and give birth to children, while their work is to make money for the house. I really think that this is wrong, I think it will be better if both of them are working and also taking care of the home.
To make people more equal we should do the following:
Parents should introduce equality in the children by sharing of the chores equally among the children so that one person will not feel like he or she is doing most of the work.
Equality in school
In nigeria some parents believe training the male child in school is better than training the female child, they think training the female is a waste of money since they will retire into the kitchen. It's shouldn't be so, parents should know that training both genders is no waste of money.
Discriminatory behaviour often orignates from ignorance. A lack of understanding of different cultures, beliefs or lifestyles is often a factor in things like bullying, while a lack of empathy; that is, the ability to place oneself in the shoes of another and imagine life from their perspective, can cause us to view the world from our own limited frame of reference.
A combination of these factors often results in minority groups or those considered ‘other’, due to things like race, sexuality or ability being treated less fairly than the majority group.
It’s important to educate young people about equality, diversity, identity and human rights so that they learn to respect others, celebrate diversity and recognize prejudice and discrimination.
As children get older, they will increasingly find themselves in positions where issues of inequality and discrimination can impact them: in school, in further education, in work and in wider society.
Teaching children about their rights and the rights of others is important.
Equality in leadership
Both genders especially the females shouldn't be deprived of leadership. The female child are also capable of leadership roles as well as the male. Today we have females leading in different top positions that were once controlled by the male gender.
Gender equality should be taught in schools where it is not.
Both genders should be allowed to run for whichever office if their choice, as long as they are qualified to contest for the position which they want to run for.
Conclusion
The main principle of equality is that people should not be treated differently on the basis of any identity with which they identify or which is ascribed to them, including their race, sex, gender identity, class, language, religion, age, sexual orientation, national origin, birth status, disability, and so forth.
