Everyone works hard and tirelessly to earn money so they can make ends meet, earn enough to fend for their family, and chase their dreams, goals, and aspirations. And to be honest, it's not easy, but still we still find people who don't mind repeating that in as much as they earn to sustain their family. Now in the advent that everyone's earnings are being published online and made visible for all to see, would it be a good idea or a terrible one? Because obviously depending on how we want to argue it, there'll be a positive take on both sides, but then, what is my own personal take on such a thing? Find out about it below.
Having everyone's wages and earnings published online can be a good thing in aspects such as how it'll expose the ridiculousness among governments and employers paying their staff, and these can go on to prompt them to review such wages and increase them to something more decent and befitting in this country where the cost of living seems to be rising by the day. It can also be a good thing, seeing how it can serve as an opportunity to catch fraudsters and corrupt employees or politicians who are misusing their organization's resources or looting public funds, and these can make it easier to get evidence and have such people questioned before being persecuted.
Despite having someone's earnings published online and having some positivity, is it good, and is it something I'd like? The answer is a definite no, and my reason isn't far-fetched. This will attract a lot of people to your personal information, like your earnings, and make them want to start making demands, like asking for help, because they feel you earn a lot; even if what they think is a lot isn't meeting your own need, they'll feel like you're being stingy when you sleep turning them down. Also, such information being in the public space can put individuals in danger, as it can be seen by thieves and armed robbers who literally trace you home during payday, just so they can get a share of your earnings.
We shouldn't even say it because you earn less; it'll make you be safer when your information of earnings is out there. See the situations of the country where bandits and terrorists kidnapped teachers and students. Do you want to tell me they don't know teachers and students don't have the kind of money they usually demand for ransom? Of course they know, but then they just know it's easier to catch the poor than it is to catch the rich, and even when the rich and mighty are being kidnapped, we know the speed and work rate of the government and the officers would triple. So I'm totally against having my earnings published online.
The government has access to literally anything they need about our finances and location, and if they want to know what we earn and how it comes in, they've the resources and intelligence to do so, so that's enough for them to investigate. They shouldn't endanger people's lives by publishing people's earnings online; the country is already unsafe even without people knowing what you earn. How much more when they now know?
