Adventure is one of the fun acts we indulge in that brings fulfillment and satisfaction to our being. Just like many people, I'm a lover of adventure, seeing new places, and trying out new things. In fact, it's my love for adventure that makes us enjoy traveling because it's an avenue to see and explore the new places and cultures of the earth. Upon seeing this topic, only one location came to mind, and I'll love to tell you all about it.
So in line with the subject matter of the ongoing prompt, if things were to go well and I've got all the necessities required to go on an adventure of my choice, the place I'll be going is one I've had in mind to pay a visit to during my national youth service corps but couldn't due to insecurity and the fear of my officials, who don't want a situation where I'll embark on that adventure and in the process get killed, kidnapped, or something of that nature.
My country, Nigeria, is blessed with so many natural resources and beautiful places that could serve as tourist attractions that'll draw tourists to the country, but due to insecurity, poor maintenance, and the unwillingness of the government to invest in this aspect, all of these places are just there without being explored.
Would you have believed that Nigeria is the home of the highest waterfall in the entire west of Africa—the spring that brings forth both warm and cold water at the same time? A country with rivers, lakes, oceans, mountains, valleys, hills, dessert, and much more, to mention but a few, yet none is explored or utilized as a medium to boost the country's economy. Well, without leaving the subject matter, let's get back to the purpose of this write-up.
If I were to go to a place for adventure, it'd be the Yusufari Dessert in Yobe State, Nigeria., Precisely the Tulo-tulo Oases and sand dunes, This is one of the beauties of nature Nigeria is blessed with, and yet most people dare not go close to the place again because its environs have been a den of terrorists and kidnappers. But if you were to see Yusufari in its glory, I can bet with you that it's a place you'll love to be because it's a pleasant sight to behold.
Aside from being a dessert, there's a particular section of the Yusufari Dessert where the Oases(river) passes through the dessert and just around the edges of the river's are several palm trees, which in my opinion just makes it a place to be and a sight to behold. Imagining those narrations made me feel like I'm in the present, but I remember trying to go there during NYSC, and the officials refused out of fear that Boko Haram would kill or kidnap me.
I was the president of the Culture and Tourism Community Development Service (CDS) during my NYSC and wrote several letters to the state government, but all were turned down, even when I clearly stated the aim was to promote the state tourist attractions. But then I understood their fears, and that's why I'm imagining that if all goes well without fear of this terrorist, I'll love to pay a visit to this part of the country once again.
The reason why I'm going and choosing there is to feed my eyes with the beauty of nature, enjoy the moment, take pictures, and preach the gospel of Yusufari Dessert so that loads of people will know and be aware that what they're spending heavily to see in Dubai and Middle Eastern countries is here in our motherland and it's free of charge.
Thanks for your time, I hope you enjoyed the read, have a wonderful day ahead.
