Newbies initiative task #10: My recount of goals and feedbacks
Go back to your task 1, check the goals you made and recount those goals, see how you have performed. Did you smash those goals? Tell us why and how.
Reflecting on the goals I set for myself last year, I unfortunately fell quite short of reaching my intended target. Going into 2023, I had boldly aimed to achieve 3,500 HP on Hive by December. However, when the year wrapped up, I only made it to 1,437 HP - nowhere near the milestone I had envisioned.
In hindsight, that initial goal was overly ambitious for my first full year on Hive. While setting a stretch goal was motivating initially, it became discouraging once I realized how far behind pace I was.
Several factors contributed to the gap between my actual HP level and intended target. I struggled with consistency in creating content and had periods of inactivity that stalled my growth. I also lacked a strategic approach to investing my Hive earnings into power ups.
Moving forward, I need to set more incremental HP goals that are realistic based on my current trajectory. Rome wasn't built in a day - I have to celebrate small wins along the way. Staying encouraged will give me the momentum I need to keep leveling up.
This year also requires more focus on high-quality content that engages my audience. Consistency must become non-negotiable. I aim to power up at least weekly, even if in modest amounts. With the right habits in place, I know the results will come.
While I didn't hit the bold number in mind last year, I still made undeniable progress. Now armed with the experience of what it takes, I'm confident my goals for 2024 are within reach if I apply these lessons. Growth is a journey - I'm excited for the road ahead!
How was your experience in the newbies initiative, what do you have to say about it?
Joining the Newbies Initiative was absolutely life-changing for my Hive journey. The program provided the best learning experience I could have asked for in 2023. My writing, Markdown skills, and overall knowledge gained have made hiving so much easier. What a tremendous opportunity created! I cannot fully express my gratitude for the time and care you invested to guide newcomers like me. Your initiative shaped my path here profoundly. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for everything you poured into the Newbie community. Your mentoring uplifted me more than you know.
Not only did create an amazing learning program, she cultivated a supportive community among participants. Forging those connections early on gave me a built-in group of collaborators and friends. I always had someone to turn to which boosted my confidence and motivation.
The hands-on challenges pushed me outside my comfort zone. Putting lessons into practice right away accelerated my progress tremendously. struck the perfect balance of teaching and learning by doing.
Having direct access to experienced Hive users like was invaluable. Their real-time feedback and tips ensured I formed good habits from the start. I absorbed so much wisdom in a short period!
The Initiative showed me Hive isn't just a platform - it's a culture centered around uplifting each other. modeled the patience, compassion and guidance that make this community thrive.
Thanks to the solid foundation built through the Newbies Initiative, I finally feel equipped to leverage Hive to its fullest potential. lit a spark in me that I'll carry forward for years to come.
If you were to contribute one thing to make the newbies initiative perform better, what do you think you can do?
First, I agree that curation should be addressed for future programs. While rewards aren't guaranteed, consistent curation motivates participants and signals their work is valued. Even if small, it shows engagement.
Perhaps Initiative leaders could take turns spotlighting standout posts weekly. Or they could appoint past graduates as curators to cover more content. This engagement would mean a lot, especially to new users still gaining their footing.
Second, I love the idea of rewarding top performers with moderator roles or duties. Identifying promising individuals early and giving them leadership opportunities benefits both sides.
Participants would feel recognized for their efforts and invested in the program's future. Meanwhile, Initiative leaders can cultivate promising talent to eventually help run things. It's a natural progression.
Appointing dedicated moderators and standout graduates into these special roles would incentivize excellence and expand the Initiative's capacity to nurture newcomers.
Thanks for raising these thoughtful suggestions. Enhancing curation and offering leadership incentives seem like natural next steps to build on an already strong foundation. Keep the ideas coming!
Thank you so much for reading my post.
