The fact that even triple of 77k cannot sustain a family of four is proof that the government has done absolutely nothing to alleviate the poverty across the country. They’re the ones benefiting.

It’s even more sad when you realize that the average Nigerian felt excited about such a valueless increment, but taking a step back, I understand why this was so. Many people don’t understand basic economics so 77k against 33k genuinely feels like a big deal to them. But when that is taken to the market to spend, the shock at what it can only afford tells it all.

Sometimes, I wonder if we can ever get to the point where the government makes things easier by first making the minimum wage significant but knowing about the events that has taken place in the past years since the last elections leaves me hopeless.
