Hi Hive,
Despite the fact that broiler chickens are built for fast growth doesn't mean that you just have to give any kind of feed and expect them growing fast. Unless the you follow proper broiler chickens feeding routine that you can achieve fast results.

Fast growth in broiler farming is not something that happens by chance but through proper feed or standard feed routine. I’ve learned this from experience. At the start of my broiler chickens farming journey, I used to think once you buy good chicks, everything else would fall into place but reality taught me that feeding is broiler chicken farming is very important and this decided a lot. A proper feeding strategy is the difference between profit and loss.
Over time, I developed a simple but effective feeding routine that has consistently ,helped my birds grow faster, healthier, and with lower mortality. Let me break it down so that you can understand.
Starting from Week 1–2: The Foundation Stage (Starter Feed)
This stage is very critical. The chicks are still fragile, and whatever you do at this stage can determines how strong they will later become.
What did I do?
I make sure to give them pre-starter starter feed depending on the feed product I'm using. Starter feed are very rich in protein to support rapid early growth. But feeding alone is not enough. You need to provide clean water as well because feed and water go hand in hand in broiler chickens farming.
Personally, I make sure to change their water more often, sometimes every 2
3 hours, especially when the weather is hot here because dirty water can easily introduce diseases to the chicks, and that’s a risk I make sure to avoid.
At this stage, broiler chicks need close attention, so I pay close attention to how they eat ay this stage and other activities. Active chicks that rush to feed are a good health sign.
Week 3–4: The Growth Stage (Grower Feed)
At this stage, the birds are stronger and more stable and this is the stage I switch to grower feed, which helps them develop body structure and maintain proper steady weight gain.
Consistency is one thing I’ve learned in broiler chicken farming and anything you do as well. I don’t just feed them and walk away. But I still maintain clean water at all times and monitor their feeding pattern. If I notice any bird isolating itself or eating less, I take it seriously especially through isolation precautions because early detection saves lives and reduce mortality.
Week 5–6: The Finishing Stage (Finisher Feed)
This is the stage where the real profit is made. At thus stage, I introduce finisher feed to help the birds bulk up and add more meat and weight.
At this point, my focus is mainly on maximizing weight without stressing the birds. I ensure the birds eat well, drink enough water, and stay comfortable. When this feeding routine is properly done, you’ll literally see the difference in their size within days.
💡 Important Tips I Follow
Avoid overfeeding or underfeeding: Too much feed wastes money, while too little also slows growth. Finding balance between overfeeding and underfeeding is the real key.
Alway ensure to provide fresh, clean water: Water is life for broilers and that's why I treat it as seriously as feed.
Observe your birds daily: Their behavior speaks. Hunger, weakness, or unusual movement is always a signal. So observation is very crucial.
My Honest Experience
Sticking to this simple feeding plan or routine has changed my results completely. My broilers now reach market weight faster, and I record very low mortality rates compared to when I got started.
Broiler chickens farming has taught me that success lies in the small, consistent actions we take daily. Feeding may look simple, but it becomes your biggest advantage when properly done.
If you’re really serious about broiler farming, then you should start paying more attention to your feeding routine because it's the real game and can make all the difference.
