A few weeks ago we had guests at our home for lunch, people my partner knew but I did not prior to the day. That's rare as we are selective with who comes into our home but I trust that he would not bring those he didn't feel comfortable with. The day went well, tasty food and a drink or two and we spent the afternoon chatting with music playing in the background.
I had a lovely conversation with the two wives who had said, "your home smells like the most beautiful garden Becca," which made me smile. That's exactly what I always want to achieve.

I usually have fresh flowers in my home which come from my own garden or the shop depending on the time of year.
I don't like heavy scents though, I prefer subtle fragrances that permeate the entire home without assaulting the senses, but fresh flowers are costly and not always available so I use scent diffusers and candle-melts to create the fragrances I want need. The result is a lovely smelling home and that makes me happy, like it's my place which, of course, it is. I was pleased they noticed and it brought the opportunity for some lovely conversation about nature, plants and flowers and scents (one of them was also a gardener like me) at lunch.
If I could live in the middle of a beautiful garden in the countryside surrounded by the scents of nature, flowers, new fallen rain, earthy scents and the fresh air that one only finds in such places I would; it's not quite possible at the moment though and so I have to bring those scents into my home in other ways and I do. It's a compromise, but one that works for me.
