Hello everyone and welcome to the third and final entry in my weekend Daisy posts - African Daisies for your Sunday
#alwaysaflower created by one of Hives most positive and happy little Queen Bees , stop on by the #alwaysaflower community and find out what all the Buzzz is about.
I'm sharing images of one of my favorite Daisies today. I've imaged this type many times but this is the firs time I've planted it.
The above image is the most recent, taken on the 14th before the rain started that afternoon.
This is the African Daisy(white), Osteospermum Eckionis.
This is a large flower(4 to 6 inches) Daisy with a classic shape. this type has white classic shaped pedals around a brilliant blue and purple center. The center cluster opens up to expose bright yellow orange pollen.
This daisy loves full sun and the blooms last for weeks before wilting. It is also drought resistant as it can stop blooming and go semi dormant to conserve water.
African Daisies are very popular here and I see them all over the place.
The mild climate and no long periods of sub-freezing temperatures here allows this Daisy to be grown as a perennial and will grow for years.
This one also does very well in containers but you will have to feed it every couple of weeks.
The African Daisy also opens and closes with the sun this is a morning shot just as the sun is breaking out of an overcast sky.
Love the purple on the underside of the pedals.
They will start closing up in late afternoon and open with the sun.
They remain closed all night and on dark cloudy days.
Above are a couple just opening for the first time
A very unique and cool flower all around and I highly recommend it for your garden.
I really like to image this flower and if you have followed me for any length of time you've probably seen it more than a few times. lol
Well that's it for today, I do hope you enjoyed the images.
More than likely you'll see this and the other blooms again this year.
Hope you all had a great weekend !!!
A little something extra for the Ladies, a wild Bluebell.
