The Beauty of Waterlilies.
"Just living is not enough; One must have Sunshine, Freedom, and a little Flower."
(Hans Christian Anderson.)
Water lilies are often referred to as the Jewels of the Pond, serve multiple purposes. Not only are they beautifully decorative, but they assist the ecosystem by maintaining the health of the ponds they inhabit.
They provide shade reducing the heat in summer, slowing down the growth of algae, and sheltering the fish in the pond. By absorbing nutrients in the water they deprive the undesirable green plants such as algae, thus keeping the water clear and clean.
Water lilies grow completely within the water and their leaves spread across the surface layering the pond with vibrancy and colour.
