Rainy Sunday and very cool weather. With few things to tell about my personal life, at least, few things I'm happy to share today, so let's follow the old practice of 'if you don't have anything good to say, silence is good'. Let's move on to comment on today's #History anniversary, which is a day (September 24) that has to do with cancer research, but also with the death of a character from 20th century children's literature who died of this disease, on a day like today (in 1991). Today marks the passing away of Theodor Seuss Geisel, much better known by his #writer pseudonym: The Dr. Seuss.

Domingo de lluvias y clima muy fresco. Con pocas cosas que contar de mi vida personal, cuando menos, pocas cosas que me alegre de compartir hoy, así que mejor sigamos la vieja práctica de ‘si no tienes nada bueno que decir, el silencio es bueno’. Pasemos mejor a comentar sobre la efeméride de la #Historia de hoy, que es un día (24 de septiembre) que tiene que ver con la investigación del cáncer, pero también con el fallecimiento de un personaje de la literatura infantil del siglo XX que murió de esta enfermedad, un día como hoy (pero en 1991). Hoy se conmemora el fallecimiento de Theodor Seuss Geisel, mucho mejor conocido por su seudónimo como escritor, el Dr. Seuss.

Dr. Seuss was an artist of varied talents, he was a caricaturist, writer, newspaper editor, newspaper columnist, short film scriptwriter, film co-producer, and documentary filmmaker. He even had a military career and was promoted to the rank of Commander, being in charge of the Animation Department of the First Motion Picture Unit of the United States Army Air Forces, during World War II.

Dr. Seuss fue un #artista de variados talentos, fue caricaturista, #escritor, editor de periódico, articulista de diarios, guionista de cortometrajes, coproductor cinematográfico, y documentalista. Incluso llegó a tener carrera militar y fue promovido al rango de Comandante, estando a cargo del Departamento de Animación de la Primera Unidad de Películas de las Fuerzas Aéreas del Ejército de los Estados Unidos, durante la Segunda Guerra Mundial.

Despite all this, he is remembered mainly for his stories for boys and girls, for his overflowing creativity to create short and fun #books, with rhymes that attracted attention and played with the imagination, captivating young readers. He never had children of his own, but his works became fun stories for millions of boys and girls.
I don't know if it is true that the only immortality we can aspire to is to remain in the memory of others for our works, but if that is the case, then Dr Seuss is in good shape in this 21st century. Well, I better say goodbye, because the electricity is giving me intermittent jumps (resigned smile), I wish you that you are well, that you enjoy a pleasant reading these days, and that we can read again on another occasion.

A pesar de todo esto, se le recuerda principalmente por sus cuentos para niños y niñas, por su creatividad desbordante para crear #libros breves y divertidos, con rimas que atraían la atención y jugaban con la imaginación, cautivando a los jóvenes lectores. Él nunca tuvo hijos propios, pero sus obras, se convirtieron en narraciones divertidas para millones de niños y niñas.
No sé si es cierto que la única inmortalidad que podemos aspirar es permanecer en la memoria de los demás por nuestras obras, pero si ese es el caso, entonces el Dr Seuss, goza de un buen estado en este siglo XXI. Bien, ya mejor me despido, porque la electricidad me está dando saltos intermitentes (sonrisa resignada), te deseo que tú estés bien, que disfrutes en estos días de una agradable lectura, y que nos podamos leer de nuevo en otra oportunidad.
