It is Thursday, today is celebrated, according to the Catholic calendar, the festivity in honor of the Marian invocation of the Virgin of Candelaria, an invocation that began in Tenerife, Canary Islands (Spain), and that in the 17th century spread to a good part of its colonies in different parts of the world, in the case of #Venezuela, my country, the devotion to this dedication has strong roots in #History and also marks the time to remove the decoration of the Nativity of the Lord, also called Manger or Bethlehem.
By the way, today we did go out to buy some vegetables to complete the week's meal, but it was a quick outing and without major incidents. The weather is still quite cold for what it usually is, but I am already accepting that it seems that this cold front is going to continue for at least 6 more weeks, according to what I heard on the radio about the weather forecast.

Es jueves, hoy se celebra, para el calendario católico, la festividad en honor de la advocación mariana de la Virgen de la Candelaria, una advocación iniciada en Tenerife, Islas Canarias (España), y en el Siglo XVII se extendió a buena parte de sus colonias en distintas partes del mundo, en el caso de #Venezuela, mi país, la devoción a esta advocación tiene fuertes raíces en la #Historia y marca también el momento de retirar la decoración de Natividad del Señor, también llamado Pesebre, Belén o Nacimiento.
Por cierto que hoy sí salimos a comprar algunas hortalizas para completar la comida de la semana, pero fue una salida rápida y sin mayores incidencias. El clima sigue siendo bastante frío para lo que suele haber, pero ya estoy aceptando que parece que esto del frente frío va a seguir por al menos unas 6 semanas más, según escuché en la radio la previsión climatológica.

Among the intangible cultural heritage that the period of conquest and colonization left us, is religion and its rituals, among them, today the removal of the Manger is traditionally carried out, so I took care of it at the beginning of the night, not that I did a very strict ritual, after all, I placed it very simple this past year, so picking it up was very fast, I did it in a few minutes, with the insistent company of Veronica the cat, luckily it didn't cause any problems, I was just checking what I did out of healthy curiosity.

Volviendo al punto de la fecha, para la #Historia de Venezuela, es algo innegable la fuerte herencia colonial del viejo Imperio Español que tenemos los que somos Criollos, es decir, nosotros que somos descendientes de los colonos europeos que conquistaron los territorios y se establecieron, en muchos casos mezclándose mucho con la población nativa americana (designados como indios por una cuestión de errores de percepción geográfica) y la población afrodescendiente que fue traída a la actual América como esclavos para el trabajo.
Entre la herencia cultural inmaterial que nos dejó el periodo de conquista y de colonización, está la religión y sus rituales, entre ellos, hoy se ejecuta tradicionalmente el de retirar el Pesebre, así que me encargue de ello al comenzar la noche, no es que hiciera un ritual muy estricto, a fin de cuentas, lo coloqué muy simple este año pasado, así que recogerlo fue muy rápido, lo hice en pocos minutos, con la insistente compañía de la gata Verónica, por suerte no causó problemas, simplemente estaba revisando lo que yo hacía por sana curiosidad.

For me, removing the #Bethlehem is something that brings back memories, memories of when we placed it as a family, and it was a fairly large and elaborate Nativity scene. In recent years, I've put it up by myself and often pick it up myself, which makes me a little nostalgic.

Para mí, retirar el Nacimiento es algo que me trae recuerdos, memorias de cuando lo colocábamos en familia y era un Pesebre bastante grande y elaborado. En años recientes, lo he colocado solo y suelo recogerlo por mi cuenta, eso me causa un poco de nostalgia.
Supongo que cuando uno empieza a tener más nostalgias que anhelos a futuro, entonces se puede asegurar que uno ha envejecido un poco (risa personal).

In my family's custom, we usually use a suitcase to store Christmas decorations, so when I collect everything, I close it and take it to another part of the house that serves as a storage room, hoping that I will take it out again for the next time of Christmas.
I suppose that, in a while, I will light a candle in honor of the festivity, after all, the symbolism of the Virgin of Candelaria refers to divine light that guides us towards the right path, marking the path to redemption like a beacon and stimulates the revival of faith in God...
I'm not very religious, but I know that #rituals are ceremonies that help us maintain our social sense and relate to each other, as well as allowing me to feel that our #tradition continues despite time, despite the fact that only I was here to fulfill it. En la costumbre de mi familia, solemos usar una maleta para guardar los adornos de navidad, así que al recoger todo, la cierro y la llevó a otra parte de la casa que nos sirve de depósito, esperando que lo vuelva a sacar para la siguiente navidad.
Supongo que, dentro de un rato, encenderé una vela en honor a la festividad, después de todo, el simbolismo de la Virgen de la Candelaria hace referencia a luz divina que guía hacia el buen camino, marca como un faro el camino a la redención y estimula el avivamiento de la fe en Dios...
No soy muy religioso, pero sé que los rituales son ceremonias que nos ayudan a mantener el sentido social y relacionarnos, además de que me permite sentir que nuestra tradición continúa a pesar del tiempo, a pesar de que solo quedé yo acá para cumplirla. Bien, esto ya suena muy melancólico, mejor lo dejamos por hoy, te deseo que tú estés bien y que nos podamos leer en otra oportunidad.
