Ocimum tenuiflorum
The Ocimum tenuiflorum is also known as holy basil or tulsi and it is used for the make of traditional medicines, herbal tea, essential oil and much more. This plant is frequently used in the ayurveda and is classified as adaptogen herb. This type of herbs stimulates the well-being and counteract stress. Consuming this this plant comes with a lot of benefits.
Benefits of consuming Tulsi for:
- Diabetes
One of the benefits of using tulsi is to regulate the insulin level of the blood. - vitamine K
Vitamine K is essential for the health of bones and the heart. It also stimulates the brain-function and metabolism. - oral hygiene
This plant can kill bacteria which cause bad breath, plaque and tartar. - Eyes
Tulsi can cure eye-infections. It can also prevent catarac. - Acne
Holy basil containt eugenol, a substance which is good to cure a lot of skin-disorders.
This is my Tulsi plant. Everyday I do my best to water it.
Days ago I tried to multiply them by sowing, it didn't came up yet.
These are the "flowers" and when you open them, you will the seeds.
The brown "flowers" are good to sow because those brown flowers have seeds in them. The green ones are to young, not containing seeds that will grown if you are going to sow them
I made some Tulsi-tea. It had a deep mint flavor which I love.
The Tulsi is also worshipped by Hindus. There is a festival called Tulsi Vivah
