Happy Tuesday!
It has been a nice five days off of work during Labor Day weekend, but tomorrow I return to the grind full swing.
Saturday my oldest son drove me to Pittsburgh to fly to Florida to visit my youngest son, my sister, and her husband. It didn't dawn on me until I witnessed the long, long security line for pre-boarding that flying on Labor Day would prove to be challenging. Fortunately, TSA worked quickly to move everyone through security. I arrived at approximately 6:00 a.m. My flight took off at 7:40; on time.
My seatmates were a young married Christian couple with a young baby. It was a pleasant two-and-a-half-hour flight. The husband is a civil engineer who designs plane hangers.
My husband, Jeff, couldn't park at the airport because the lots were full so he drove to pick me up once I secured my baggage. The drive to the hotel was an hour and a half. Jeff arrived the night before by truck after a 16 non-stop 16 hour drive. His mission was to pick up a pair of airplane wings he purchased last summer and hasn't been able to get them before now.
My son arrived at the hotel within my landing so he hung out at McDonald's waiting for us. Jeff left and drove to the seller of his wings.
It was a flash weekend! Jeff left after napping while I went to dinner with my son, sister, and brother-in-law. He left at 11 p.m. to drive back to Pennsylvania.
Sunday we met my sister and her husband to drive the forty-five minutes to see the eleven and a half acres of land that they purchased this spring to build their first home and begin a homestead.
It is beautiful and will require a lot of work to develop.
My son left and drove the four hours home. My sister and her husband came to my hotel to hang out at the pool.
The restaurant was right outside my hotel and a uniquely decorated one.
The food was good. I ate a French dip with homemade potato chips.
We ate a late lunch and I went to sleep (tried to) around 7:30 p.m. after streaming evening church. My sister and her husband returned to drive me to the airport at 2:30 a.m.
This time the line at the airport was long and slower to process travelers. I arrived in plenty of time to get through baggage check and security. I ate around 5:00 a.m. Airport prices are (as always) inflated. I paid $15 for an egg, cheese, and bacon sandwich. The GPS on the plane was failing so, although we boarded on time at 6:40 a.m. We didn't leave the airport until an hour later.
Jeff picked me up three hours later for the hour-and-a-half-long return drive.
My great-granddaughter turned three on Monday and after we arrived home my granddaughter called to ask if they could visit. We ran to Walmart to get a gift and food to feel the grandchildren. We had a great visit, but I was wiped out.
Today I got my Botox injections for migraine treatment and, while I was at the hospital, I got the x-ray of my ribs ordered by my chiropractor a few weeks ago which I didn't get yet because I didn't have time off of work until today.
That's my long weekend! I'm alive and thriving. It was a whirlwind but it was wonderful to see my family and Jeff is happy to have the wings he needs go restore the Cessna 140 he's been working on since last summer.
