It was almost exactly two weeks ago that I introduced you to the fantasy world of
Arvia
The monsters are large
The pay is small
A sharp wit gets you further than a sharp blade
(but it’s a good idea to have both)
In case you missed it please go back and check out the video. It's not very long and it will give you an idea of the wonders and horrors of this wonderful world my hubby created. Well, wonderful - I'm not so sure I'd want to willingly move there but - that's for another story. Maybe...
So far my husband has written three full-size novels taking place on Arvia as well as a couple of novellas. You may read a few chapters of the novellas for free on his website to get a taste of his writing style.
But this post is for the cover reveal of his upcoming fourth novel which will be released on May 12, 2023. While this novel like all the other ones, is a stand-alone story it does follow the two main protagonists of his first two books Harpyness is Only Skin Deep and Finding your Harpy Place. His third book is called
Arvia: Heart of the Sky
And this is the cover, art created and painted by the awesome Papaya-Style. You can find a little more about the book here and about the concept art here. But I'll also tell you a bit about the book in this post.
Title: Arvia: Heart of the Sky
Author: D.H. Willison
Print length: 358 pages
Genre: Fantasy adventure, sub-genres: humor, romance
Blurb:
It takes great courage to stand against a ferocious mythic monster.
It takes far greater to stand with one who’s at her most vulnerable.
Tremors rock the land. Wild magic and creatures from the abyss ravage a formerly bountiful forest, while a creeping magic ailment spreads among the harpies. A fragile peace between harpy and human teeters on the brink.
Darin and Rinloh, oddest couple in all the land. They must become the oddest of heroes to save the land.
Heart of the Sky. A charming blend of whimsy, terror, and a lot of heart.
Series information: This is the third book in Tales of Arvia. All books are written as stand-alone works featuring the ongoing adventures of a core group of characters
Author bio:
D.H. Willison is a reader, writer, game enthusiast and developer, engineer, and history buff. He’s lived or worked in over a dozen countries, learning different cultures, viewpoints, and attitudes, which have influenced his writing, contributing to one of his major themes: alternate and creative conflict resolution. The same situations can be viewed by different cultures quite differently. Sometimes it leads to conflict, sometimes to hilarity. Both make for a great story.
He’s also never missed a chance to visit historic sites, from castle dungeons, to catacombs, to the holds of tall ships, to the tunnels of the Maginot Line. It might be considered research, except for the minor fact that his tales are all set on the whimsical and terrifying world of Arvia. Where giant mythic monsters are often more easily overcome with empathy than explosions.

The great thing about my husband's book covers is that if you get the hardcover the wrap-around sleeve is actually a wonderful big painting. For all of his books they are. This one here is the full sleeve of Arvia: Heart of the Sky.
Definitely, I mean DEFINITELY, click on it and view it in large to zoom in
So, yeah, that's it from me tonight. Check out the book or website and let me know what you think. Just looking at the full spread of the cover I have to say that Papaya-Style did a wonderful job on the cover art.
Thank you for reading and have a great day (or night)!
Cheers,
