Hello my friends.
I'm not a wizard or a magician, I'm just learning to be one.
Wednesday is a day for walking.

Hi, friends. What do you do in the evening? Do you take a walk before going to bed?
There is a saying: "war is war, and lunch is on schedule". So since last year I have made a rule for myself - to walk in the evening after a hard day at least one hour.
This time I took a camera with me. I decided to show something beautiful in our city, its significant places.
The Central hotel is one of those places that were shown on postcards and albums dedicated to our city back in Soviet times. Now this hotel is called "Charushin". This is the surname of the architect who built this building.
The date of the beginning of the construction of the hotel is February 13, 1935. Wow. I didn't even know that it was necessary to mark the Date of Birth of this building.

I wanted to walk to the Charushin Hotel, take some photos and head home. But I changed my plan when I left the house. I walked through the secondary streets. It was about 9 o'clock in the evening and there were almost no people and cars on the streets. People have already reached their apartments after a hard day's work.
By the way, this small church is dedicated to the only battle that took place in our city in the Middle Ages. This happened in 1418. At that time, our city was called Vyatka, its inhabitants expected an attack by the Tatar-Mongols and called a squad from the city of Veliky Ustyug to their aid. By the way, this city is considered the birthplace of Russian Santa Claus.
Ustyuzhans moored to the shore of Vyatka at night and began to climb up the ravine to the shore, but in the dark the Vyatchans mistook them for enemies and opened fire on them with bows. The Ustyuzhans decided that they were too late and the city had already been captured by the enemies and also began to fight. At that time there were almost no roads in Russia and rivers were the main communication routes. In the morning, the error opened. People mourned their friends and established a "Whistler" holiday in honor of this. On this day, it was customary to whistle from clay toy birds, which were made by Ustyuzhans.
So the legend of those times said.
A memorial wooden chapel was built on the site of the massacre.
In 1875, a new brick chapel was built.

I recently learned a different version of this battle. In fact, the residents of Vyatka did not call for help. The former mayor of Vyatka brought a detachment of mercenaries from Veliky Ustyug to regain power in the city, but the citizens of the city rebuffed the mercenaries and won the night battle. Anyway, it was a sad story, because in fact Veliky Ustyug was an allied city for Vyatka.
Vyatka was in opposition to Moscow until Ivan III established his authority in this city in 1489. Vyatka became part of the Moscow state.

The New Year holidays ended a month and a half ago. In a week there will be Maslenitsa, after which the Orthodox will begin Lent. In Soviet times, this day was called "Seeing off the Russian winter." Maybe by this day New Year's attributes will be removed from the walls of this house?

What? Another Christmas tree? In summer there is a fountain, the jet of which shoots into the stone.

"The Prince and the Pauper". A novel by Mark Twain. This work is almost a century and a half old, many films have been shot on its basis, many performances have been staged and many other works have been made. Splendor and poverty. New and old...

I am glad that places have begun to appear in Kirov where we can have a cup of delicious coffee.

My walk continues. I just went out to the central street, took a photo of the Central Hotel and went on. But the continuation will be on another day.

I say goodbye, friends, until we meet again. Good luck.
