Arkhangelsk region, Somba River.
Last week I was visiting my son in the Arkhangelsk region. I took my granddaughter there, who lived at our house in the summer. The last time I was in this northern region was 2 years ago, but that time I was there for only one night. The length of the path in one direction is 1200 km. Now I have decided that I will stay longer to go to the taiga, to go fishing on the taiga river.
We drove another 80 km along dirt roads to this river. About we saw a lot of hog birds - grouse, capercaillie. My son bought a license to hunt these birds. He was very interested that so many birds were walking along the road.
The son said that we would follow the river downstream from one bridge to another. He had been on this river before, but had never taken this route.
Friends, have you ever walked along the bank of a forest river? This means the complete absence of any clearings or meadows, because not a single person conducts any activity in these places, only solid trees! Oh, yes, you can still see animal tracks. We saw a lot of trees that were felled by beavers. The most important thing on such fishing is not to meet predators such as bear, wolf, lynx.
I made several spinning casts directly from the bridge and lost the spinner, which I had high hopes for catching grayling. Grayling was the goal of our fishing trip. It was for this fish that we came to this taiga river. My spinner was cut off by a pike with its teeth. The son caught her, but she wasn't very big. And was a phrase - we came to catch grayling, pike, and perch are not interested in us. So we started releasing these fish back into the river.
In the photo, my first caught perch on this river.
At first, the river was very calm and we came across perch and pike. I thought I should take the fish home to treat my mom to fish soup. My companions reasoned that they expected to see another river. We wanted to see a strong current, which grayling loves, but the river remained very calm.
Eventually we heard a light quiet murmur of water downstream and after a few minutes we came out on a stone section of the river. The river has completely changed. The depth of the river became shallow. The lack of rains this year made the river shallow and it seemed that the fish had nowhere to live here.
I have never fished on such stone rivers before. It was very interesting. But still there were only perches in the catch. Where is grayling? I didn't realize before how bad it was to walk on such a river. Stones. It's a whole ordeal to walk on such stones in the water. When the boot got between the stones, the stones pressed on the foot and it caused great pain.
Ahead I saw a bend in the river and a high bank. This is a clear sign that there should be fish there. There should be grayling! Let's go.
I was not mistaken in my calculations. This is exactly the kind of place I wanted to see. There should be fish here. Hurray! Grayling! My son's friend caught it first. He walked ahead and took a good location. I also saw a grayling bite, I even already held this grayling in my hands. The son also caught grayling. The first grayling on this fishing trip. Before the trip, my son said - our goal is to catch 5 grayling each.
The goal is 5 grayling each. I will say that I caught 3, and my son caught 2 grayling. We got 5 fish. The plan is half completed. My son's friend usually walked ahead of us and he caught 7 grayling.
By the way, a great copy. The weight of each fish was in the range of 350-400 grams. Of course, in Siberian grayling is larger than ours and there is much more of it. But this fishing for me and my companions was very joyful.
This grayling was the last one during this fishing trip. We have almost reached the final point - the bridge. The builders built a small dam on the bridge, so the river slowed down its flow and instead of grayling, perch and pike began to come across again. We walked along the riverbed and along its banks for about 7 km . From the bridge to the first bridge, where I left my car, we walked another 4 km. It was a hard labor walk, but it brought a lot of positive emotions. And a complete lack of mobile communication.
Mushrooms. Of course, I came across them when I was walking through the forest. I do not even know how it was more convenient to walk - on stones in the river or through the forest among moss, roots, holes and fallen trees. How many times have I fallen in the woods? At least 5 times. Once, when I fell, I hit my head on a tree trunk. The son saw this moment and laughed a lot. Then he also told it to his wife at dinner. In fact, even I was laughing at that moment.
Well. I wish all my friends, observers, and readers wonderful walks on Wednesdays. And also on Sundays and any other day!
