The details of the walks is what makes them interesting and different from each other, the important thing is to see those details and enjoy them.
A few weeks ago I took a particular walk, not in the middle of nature or among works of art, but in the streets of the city and in fact one of the most important streets that during the time I've been here has changed several times, for tourism and utility reasons.
It was in the middle of autumn, but it was still a bit warm, people dress very differently at this time of the year, I notice that a lot. Some people come from the south and the weather seems cold, others come from the north and the weather seems warm, I think it all depends on the person. The truth is that while some people had some warm clothes, others felt like they were living in summer. And that happens here all year round, because people come from all over, all the time.
When I arrived the first thing I thought was: I'm just another weirdo and I feel so comfortable. Walking through the streets of the city, this city is very satisfying for me, nobody cares how the other guy is dressed or if he's punk, goth, full of tattoos or any other difference. Everyone looks at themselves, everyone is in their own world.
All this makes me walk and look at the details around me, like the big towers and altars, or the little flowers that are near me, the sculptures and the sky.
It makes me look at the branches of the trees that greet me with every step, if only people would look around them, the details count, but many only look at the screen of their phone.
I like the old buildings, seeing the big windows, the balconies, how so much beautiful architecture is preserved over time, how it is cared for and restored. I love that. I always look up and not only to see the sky but also to see these buildings, their history, their style, but above all the windows.
Every angle offers me a new perspective, in every angle you see things differently and all of them beautiful, because there is beauty in everything if you know how to see it, the people walking, the height of the buildings, the trees on the pavements and even the long shadows of the people.
The sun was going down and these shadows were getting longer and longer, and in the street the cars were driving as if in a different world, a world of shadows, because the great number of trees and their leafy foliage, which is present all year round, creates a wonderful shadow tunnel. It seems as if the cars enter a time tunnel.
And as I walked and walked along the road I began to see smoke, smoke between the trees, near the buildings, in the streets and I realised that this year the chestnut season had started very early. Normally the stalls start their activity in November, but this year they started much earlier.
It wasn't just smoke but that particular aroma, which a local probably doesn't notice, but for someone who is not from the area you notice it immediately. And that's how the streets seemed full of fog and even though there were two or three stalls along the route, the smell and the smoke pervades everything.
On the other hand, they were celebrating 50 years of roads and works in the city, a walk celebrating the roads... coincidence? I don't believe in them. I enjoyed walking in the middle of this celebration in this way.
The sun was breaking through at the end of the tunnel of trees, I crossed the street and everything was very magical, it always is, I like to see such beauty, to watch everything attentively.
On the other side there were flowers of the most beautiful colours waiting for me, more balconies and windows and strange figures.
But what I always love about this wide and beautiful street are the flower stalls, the scent. Imagine, the smell of roasting chestnuts and the scent of flowers. Total beauty for the senses. I like to use all my senses when I do my walks, I even touch the bushes, flowers, trees.
People kept walking, maybe the whole atmosphere doesn't catch their attention, but it does to me, always. Flowers and more flowers next to the history of the balconies.
And in the middle of the walk a mural on the heights, I wonder if people look up, if people look at the sky, up high.
While people were walking and cars were passing by I was looking at the flowers, the trees, the murals, the sky and above all the balconies with flowers, a perfect combination.
Thank you very much for joining me today on this Wednesday walk, I send you all a big hello. See you soon.
