The weather here has been very spring-like...and rainy.
It's been an oddly busy week for me as well, and I've not got out much. My one trip was to the metaphysical boutique in town where I bought my first set of Runes. While reading up on them, I began to pine for Iceland again.
We have loads of pictures on our living room walls, but I would like to take you on our little visit to one of the turf house villages from our trip in 2017.
It was during our stay in Akureyri in Northern Iceland. We often just take day trips while exploring on our Iceland trips and see where we end up.
We happened across the Glaumbaer Turf Houses and took a little walk around the grounds.
The landscape is beautiful at every turn, even with silly husbands in the shot.
I won't try to educate on the design or history of them, as my brain doesn't hold that sort of information. But I will share the beauty with you anyway.
I do remember something about this church (or kirkja, in Icelandic) being a christian church, where Iceland is mostly Lutheran.
More silly husbands, but you don't go to Iceland and not take selfies! At least, I don't.
We didn't go into the museum, but anyone is free to step inside the church.
As with most days in Iceland in September and October (those are the months we've been there) it's very damp. Rain every day at some point. But without rain, there are no rainbows! (Well, as the saying goes)
Iceland is a land of rainbows. We counted 7 different rainbow sightings in one day trip!
I hope you enjoyed this #wednesdaywalk per the rules in this post by and if you ever considered a visit to Iceland I would highly recommend it!
