Happy Hump Day, amazing people! I had to check my phone literally five times to ensure it was Wednesday. I give up trying to keep track of the days. I also had a long day yesterday since my husband surprised me and my daughter by showing up at the house all the way from the US without informing us. I probably only had 2 hours of sleep since I had to drop my daughter off at school at 6:30 a.m.
Anyhow, let me take you back to our walk a few days ago to the beach on the last day of our surfing break. As I have said this over and over, I live in the heart of a surfing area, and we celebrate here a surfing break.
A surfing break, or simply a "break," is a spot in the ocean where waves start to break and become suitable for surfing. September and October are months with the best waves for surfing. These breaks are usually caused by the ocean floor's contours, like sandbars, reefs, or points where the waves hit and start to crest and form a rideable wave. Each break has its own unique characteristics, which can greatly affect the surfing experience.
Isn't it fascinating how the ocean floor plays such a big role in creating the perfect wave? Have you ever tried surfing before?
So, my daughter and I spent our last surfing break day at Urbiztondo Beach here in our town of San Juan, La Union. My daughter and I were very eager to make the most of this day since we missed a few activities like the surfing competition and evening concerts, soaking in the beach vibes and creating memories to last a lifetime. We do attend yearly, though. The beach was busy, with some tourists leaving, some sunbathing, and others surfing. The beach was alive with energy and laughter, a testament to the vibrant spirit of my beautiful town. We decided to join the small crowd and take a leisurely stroll along the beach. The warm sand beneath our feet and the cool sea breeze brushing against our faces felt heavenly.
We passed by numerous food stalls, each one more enticing than the last. The aroma of freshly grilled BBQ wafted through the air, mingling with the salty sea breeze. We couldn't resist the temptation and decided to treat ourselves to some mouth-watering skewers. As the day progressed, we noticed the sky slowly changing colors, signaling that the much-awaited sunset was near. We found a cozy spot on the beach and settled down, waiting for the magical moment. The sight of the sun gradually sinking into the horizon, painting the sky with shades of red, orange, and purple, was a sight to behold. It was as if nature was putting on a show just for us. Of course, I took a lot of photos of that sunset.
That day was special because it was spent with my daughter. We laughed, ate good food, and enjoyed a stunning sunset. We left with a promise to return next year for more fun and memories. Even though our surfing break ended, our adventure is far from over.
