Happy hump day y'all, amazing people!
Well, In order to verify that it was Wednesday today, I had to check my phone 5 times. I give up trying to keep track of the days. Time flies when you're busy. Does anyone else feel like Christmas flew by at warp speed? We're almost half way through the year. Is there some supervillain somewhere screwing with time? Oh, well....
As usual, I had to drop my daughter off at school first thing in the morning before doing the rest of my to-do list for the day. Before heading back home, I thought of stopping by the market to get some goodies, but before that, I headed straight to our town's Catholic church, Saint John the Baptist Church, which is just a few blocks away from the market.
A History Background of Saint John the Baptish Church
This is probably the most well-liked church here in my province La Union. It is located along MacArthur Highway here in San Juan. The church's distinctive architectural design is very captivating and truly is gorgeous. The Church is now over 300 years old which makes it one of the most historical tourist spots in the province. It has kept its brick and stone foundations which is also very well maintained. If you see my photos above, the surrounding trees provide the church with magnificent shade. Those acasia trees are now also century-old. Another old bell that was taken down and set on the ground is just outside the church. I was unable to take a picture of it because someone was sitting next to it. It's kind of awkward and I did not want to look like a stalker or something.
So I went inside the church for a short visit and offered a few petitions. I then went around and took a few pictures of the inside after my prayers. A replica of Christ's body when He died on Good Friday can be seen here. Standing in front of it, I also prayed for my loved ones who had passed away. "In Nomine Patris Et Filii Et Espiritus Sancti" is written on the ceiling, which I was able to photograph too. I also like the chandeliers, which are very vintage and I love it. The colorful capiz, or coral blocks, are used to create the faces of Jesus Christ and Mother Mary on the corner walls. On the left side of the church, just after the entrance, there is yet another massive statue of Jesus Christ on the Cross.
It was a peaceful visit. I headed straight to the market a little later after that, and back home at 9 am.
