A song rings in my head. An old and well-known song, El Condor Pasa (If I Could).
I like Simon & Garfunkel a lot, however, this song is not one of my favorites but I am obsessed with one line, I remember this line that keeps turning it over in my head...
"I'd rather be a forest than a street.
Yes I would.
If I could,
I surely would."
I'm still comfortable in my skin, so I don't want to be either forest or street but I'd rather be in a forest than on the street. So I took the liberty of tweaking this line a bit, just like that, just for me.
I'd rather be in a forest than a street.
Yes, I would.
If I could,
I surely would.
But, as this line says, only "If I could"... and I can't.
The street is now my forest!
Through my favorite "forest" again, Victory Avenue
This walk happened over the weekend when this avenue shook off cars and became pedestrianized.
My urban forest is filled with characters and if the street is the forest, what animals could it be? The walkers, of course...
... but also a few with feathers.
It's the only one that seems lost and disoriented as she sees different flocks.
Flocks of people "flying" in all directions.
I need to say something about the weather because all these people walking carefree in the middle of the street make me think of a vacation (or a protest).
Fortunately, it's not a protest. The residents of Bucharest are lazy enough not to participate, even if some try to...
There are tables and chairs on the sidewalks, people sitting in the sun drinking coffee, and more.
Most of all, however, is the carefree walk, free from the stress of traffic.
I don't know what happened this Sunday... The atmosphere is different and most people are happy, bright, and content, which is very good.
I also had a great time and enjoyed the nice weather and how this avenue looks. It's a weekend look, it only happens on weekends and it's a good initiative by the mayor. I walk a few steps behind the wife, like a perennial follower.
I like to watch people when I walk and see what they are doing. Some have breakfast...
... and others work, even if it's Sunday.
Most people prefer to walk their children and pets, have a coffee, and socialize!
We also encountered art galleries but the beautiful weather outside didn't let us go inside.
It's a famous place for the best ice cream, a place sought after by children and beyond.
During the week when this avenue is very busy with traffic, it is no pleasure to sit at these tables (which are so nice). Now, on weekends, it's a real pleasure!
The ride is so enjoyable that they have given up the various two-wheelers...
This was a short photo report of a place, in Bucharest, that has become very pleasant. My favorite place to walk when I come to the city center.
This whole story might not interest anyone but I hope you find something interesting in the photos. Because, after all, photos are what it's all about.
Make a point of looking around and up and see what you can find to get shots of that otherwise you may miss.
This is one of the recommendations made by for those who prefer walking and are used to sharing impressions and photos in his community, Wednesday Walk, every Wednesday, like this one today.
