Cyclamens and succulents are showing their colorful flowers ...
... on the gray, neglected buildings ...
...upon the hill ...
(Enlargeable)
... above the old town ...
(Enlargeable)
... decorated with people out on the streets. It's not a big crowd ... but in the colder days, usually you can see less.
(Enlargeable)
Some houses on the hill also look resurrected by the approaching spring, fresh and green like deciduous trees in the parks.
(Enlargeable)
A few kilometers from there ... in the suburbs ... the used condom package, shiny and pink in the fresh new grass, is contributing to the atmosphere ...
... while the plum trees are in bloom ...
... all around that neighborhood.
The bees ...
(Enlargeable)
... are buzzing around ... surrounded by streets ... cars ... supermarkets ...
Some kids are smiling ...
... from the largest billboard in the area. The thing is advertising some mysterious " Portal with the smile"
Back in the center ... on another billboard ...
... red tulips are growing ... advertising the shopping mall in the suburb you just saw a few pictures ago ... the traffic sign looks like a disruptive element, part of some anti consumerism propaganda, compromising the message. The billboard is situated on the high and long wall surrounding the big shipyard ... that ended up in bankruptcy some months ago. Across the street ...
... similarly designed ... with the same elegant color palette ...
... the Labor union of the three coastal regions of Croatia, with three large shipyards that are now destroyed by mismanagement.
On the neighboring building ... a cash machine with no cash ... The text on the photograph says exactly that : "The ATM is out of function. There is no money in the ATM."
On my walk through the old town ... I encountered another little red guy ...
... and some other people waiting for the right signal.
(Enlargeable)
The little green humanoid appeared ... and soon the people were on the other side.
(Enlargeable)
When the red person returned ...
... I was photographing the city biker of the 21. Century.
A bit further up tho road I noticed the exclamation mark that was kind of promising some action ...
... and the big crane in the distance.
(Enlargeable)
So I continued in that direction.
(Enlargeable)
When I arrived at the construction site ... I took a look ... and a shot ... through the protective barrier net.
I continued through that neighborhood ...
... without a clear direction ...
(Enlargeable)
... observing the streets ...
... the buildings ...
... collecting details along the way.
I spotted some exotic orchids in one of the windows ...
... and on the crossroad nearby ...
... a laurel wreath under the memorial for the two partisans executed in that place in 1944.
(Enlargeable)
A bit further I was surrounded by different buildings ... on this shot you can see one of those ... and then ...
... after a few hundreds meters or so ...
... I was among newer buildings.
Some of them were pink ...
... it looked like they have the ambition to replace the flowers.
Here I also photographed this cool contrast on one of the facades still in construction.
On my way back to the center, I photographed this work in progress ... in the lovely brick - color under the slightly overcast sky. Then ... further on my way ...
... in the pretty gray and unremarkable area ... I was surprised by a sudden appearance of vivid colors ...
... on the ConColor store ... that sells colors ... mostly.
This isn't a big city ...
... so I was soon in the old town again.
Here I sat in my car and drove away ...
... directed to another suburb.
(Enlargeable)
Here I had to do some repairs on my car. This all happened about a month ago, a week before the pandemic measures. The news from the nearby Italy sounded distant and surreal. I had to renew the registration and since the repairs weren't finished that day, I had to return during the lockdown ... and here I'll put a link to that post, maybe will be interesting to compare the two atmospheres.

While I was waiting for the works on my car to be done ...
... I was exploring the surroundings.
I was driving by this place often ...
... but never had a reason to stop.
In that occasion I finally had the opportunity to sniff around a bit.
I did find some cool details ... in local gardens ...
... and green suburban yards.
When I took a look at the clock ...
... I thought that returning to the mechanic could be a good idea ...
... the time and date on display didn't look very convincing ... but it was a Rolex, :D so I decided to believe in the brand.
On my way back ...
... I came across a piece of Hell on the sidewalk ... like some sign of the things to come.
It was a long day ...
... and before returning in my small hometown ...
... I decided to take another little walk ...
... through the suburban neighborhood with the tallest buildings ...
... which aren't very tall.
As I said before ... this isn't a big city.
On the following photograph ...
(Enlargeable)
... you can take a look at the local church ... very appropriate for this neighborhood, in the sense of its architecture.
And now ... with this lovely architectural detail ...
... followed by a small fragment of Americana :D hanging like a flag, high on some balcony ... is time to end this post, because soon I went home - THE END.
As always in these walks on HIVE, all the photographs are my work.
