Sometimes we don't need to look for the best trail, the best view, or the least discovered natural place, because sometimes it only takes a few steps or a simple walk to the neighborhood to see some refreshing views and discover wonderful things.
I'd say, one of the blessings of living in the countryside is to have (professional) locals that are there 24/7 and are willing to help us out with our concerns and problems at a very low service fee (sometimes free), just like my tailor neighbor, Kuya Tony. This was the purpose of my walk this day, to find Kuya Tony and had him repair hubby's broken zipper. But little did I expect that his wonderful garden that left me in awe was waiting for me too!
It was a day of a perfect walk. The lush plants appeared greener as they reflected the bright light of the sun. There were only a few vehicles that passed by on the streets which made me enjoy the calmness of the surroundings. After minutes of walking, I hadn't noticed that I already reached the tailors'.
His warm smile and the overlooking beautiful view of his small balcony greeted us when we came, I handed the jeans automatically and he checked it. While he examined the broken zipper, I noticed that his place is so tidy and clean, unlike the other tailoring shop.
I was amazed at how the sewing tables were very clean and was even more amazed at how he organized those threads according to their shades. Cluttered things I saw none.
I wasn't able to hold myself and voice out my admiration for the orderliness of the place. I was wondering where the extra pieces of fabric were or those cut and unused tiny sheets of fabric, in short, the trashes. He smiled and said that he used it in his garden. A garden?
So while waiting for the broken zipper to be fixed I took my time wandering the lovely garden.
Now, let's wander in the garden!
The Green Green Opo Squash
While I was nearing the garden, the green vines of the Opo Squash caught my attention first.
I wander under the vines and it felt like I was on my way to something paradisiacal just like in the movies. Hehe. The ground was clean and has only a few weeds. I wonder how the tailor manages to take care of this healthy and beautiful garden while doing his sewing job.
As I looked closely, I noticed the materials used as ties or cables for the vegetables to climb, they are the fabrics I asked about a while ago. I was a little amused by how he chose the color to complement the green vegetables. Mhmm.
I didn't see dark and bright colors like red, orange, and black, instead, the colors yellow, blue, and white were used. The fabrics were cleanly tied from one another. Is Kuya Tony this organized or it's just how I see it?
The fruits are ready to be harvested 1 week from now and it was very generous of the tailor to offer some fruit if I'd come back next week. See how amazing my neighbors are?😉
I proceed on my stroll and saw the eggplants and the chilis. Some of the eggplants are ready for harvest too. I learned from Kuya Tony, that aside from sewing, gardening was his first love.
Look at those small-size chilis yet yields plenty of fruits! The garden is well-maintained and huge.
He also has another plant like Cassava and okras.
Beside the okras are the Bitter gourd plants with a trellis made of fabric too! I enjoyed my walk and discover more of my neighbor's personality through his garden.
I also saw some beautiful orchids beside his house!
I finished my walk with some pictures of the beautiful orchid flowers he has, and just in time he had fixed the Zipper. It's good as new! We only paid 60 pesos (1$).
Now it's time to walk back home!
That's it guys for my simple walk to the neighborhood! I had the zipper done and had a good time wandering a garden! How about you? what's that simple walk you just had?
Thank you for reading guys! Hope you are all safe and well!
