Hello all of you wonderful #wednesdayWalkers around the world!
I hope that you are all doing well and out there enjoying your walks to share with us here, with thanks to the marvelous !
I hope that you are all doing well where ever you are and whatever you are doing around the world. And I hope that you are out and about getting in your photos to share with us so we can all have virtual tours with each other.
And if you want to know what all this hump day fuss is about, then as says,
Try and get out once a week for a short walk, can be from your office, home or anywhere really and walk for a few blocks or a few minutes looking for things to get shots of.
Your walk does not have to be on a Wednesday I just ask if possible to share your walk photos on a Wednesday.
And if you do all of that, then you will also #makemesmile for @elizacheng too!
AND, if you do love traveling but can't afford to at the moment like most of us, then please click on this link to travel anywhere in the world through #PeakD! created/hive-155530
So in last weekβs wonderful Wednesday walk, I shared with you the mystery surrounding the old storehouse on the very edge of the rocks at Bittangabee Bay.
And this is the same storehouse that our school teacher told us about way back in the 1980s on our school excursion that was built by the Dutch Portuguese- predating the discovery of Australia by Captain Cook by about 200+ years.
However, as I was down on the rock taking photos of this building, I met a guy and his kids jumping over the rocks and he stopped to say hello and to my complete suprise he told me about the other ruin, stating that it looked much older than this one, so of course I had to go and have a look- Because I had NO idea that there even was another ruin there! π±π±π±π±π±π±π±π±
Although these ruins are on a track which is called the Lighthouse to Lighthouse Trail and definitely a rough track it is thereβs no signs of the main part of Bittangabee Bay campground or picnic area to inform anybody that these ruins were there- or anywhere else for that matter- NOT even on the internet! π±π±π±π±π±π±π±π± (that I can find... and I have spent HOURS searching...)
As I was traipsing down the mystery track I came across this awesome looking anthill that I had to share with you here...
And then came to the muddy part of the track to more mystery,
which is where I found and was able to capture a rare recording of the Lyrical Lies of the Australian Lyrebird here...@chocolatescorpi/yrvutgtm
And then the track became steeper and muddier as I descended down into the unknown
And was pleasantly suprised to find this small, but magic waterfall flowing down into the bay below
From up deep in the forest
And then saw these magic stairs up into the enchanted forest beyond
And thought that this might be the end of my short, but wonderful walk, but then carried on and over, walked around the tree
And stopped for a moment to enjoy the peace and the songs of the birds singing to each other
And soon after reached this sign.
And although you might see a pile of rocks- I can definitely see foundation walls built using the stones.
and as you can see from the following photos, it could very well be older than the store house down by the bayside, however this one is also accredited to being built by it Imlay brothers as well.
But K. G. Mclntyre, an Australian lawyer with a lifelong interest in the history of discovery, has uncovered a different story. By studying ancient maps particularly those known as the Dauphin and 'Dieppe' maps and researching the history of Portuguese navigation from the time of Henry the Navigator, he shows that not only was Captain James Cook not the first European to visit Australia, he was preceded by more than 200 years. For is it not reasonable that the Portuguese who discovered Timor in the mid-16th century should have found the vast continent a mere 250 miles away, as well? How else to explain the mysterious records of the finding of a wrecked 'Mahogany Ship' on the Western Australian Coast? Mclntyre's story of these early voyages, his detailed understanding of the development of deep-sea navigation and of the policies that drove the Maritime Powers of Spain and Portugal to compete to rule the world on either side of the Pope's meridian, make his book compelling reading in itself. But The Secret Discovery of Australia is also a fascinating suspense story, the tale of the author's own unravelling of a great historical mystery, the unearthing of secrets that have been kept for hundreds of years.

So does this signify that itβs much older than the storehouse down on the bay or is our Kenneth Gordon McIntyre OBE, right in thinking that the one down on the bay was originally the Dutch Portuguese one and was built upon at a later date by the English inlay brothers? McIntyre also identified the date 15?4 carved into a stone.[96] McIntyre hypothesized the crew of a Portuguese caravel may have built a stone blockhouse and defensive wall while wintering on a voyage of discovery down Australia's east coast. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Theory_of_the_Portuguese_discovery_of_Australia#Kenneth_McIntyre_and_development_of_the_theory_in_the_20th_century
As history is usually written by the victors and so much of it is either undocumented, incompletely documented, or just simply forgotten, then to me the mystery surrounding the real origins of both of these historic remains will continue- thatβs unless someone out there can you give me a definitive answer with evidence to boot and I look forward to that day.
But until then, I will continue to believe what Captain Cook Probably didnβt want to ANYONE else to believe- and that was that he wasnβt the first person to discover Australia- including the fact that the 500 or so nations of indigenous Australia had been living here for about 70,000 years before ANYONE 'discovered' Australia anyway.....
So a thriller, wrapped in a mystery, enveloped in a conundrum and drowning in an enigma, so who can answer that $64000 question for me, because the World Wide Web can't.
