Hi fellow Walkers,
Today I'm here with some much needed spring in the air!
Walk of Rebirth and Burning
It's been one hell of a winter here in New England that's for sure! The temperatures were quite bitter for a long time and we didn't really get that much snow considering how cold it was! In all though, it ended up being not that bad of a winter, it just was a bit longer when the temps were incredibly low and not a great opportunity to get out and explore nature.
With the warming of temps of recent days, one thing is for sure is that Spring has officially taken hold! I've seen a lot more of the birds coming back to the area from flying up from the warmer climates. We have a pair of young ducks that are in their second or third nesting year on a little pond on the property we live on. We saw them for the first time a few days ago! Then we were out for a walk in the nice afternoon we had the other day and we saw this lovely sight here: shoots of some flowers coming!
Of course our son, being the nature loving little dude he is, was down on the ground inspecting the dirt, the shoots and looking for bugs and worms! He only ended up finding the shoots and was looking at the little bush next to him but he's going to keep doing this until he finds some bugs and worms that's for sure lol.
With the warming of temperatures one of the things I started doing last year around this time was go around the area we live in and start to pick up all of the deadfall tree branches that were taken down by the winter.
I take all of this stuff and load up the fire pit! One thing I really enjoy is sitting by a nice fire even if the temperatures aren't that cold. Hell even on a hot summers night I enjoy sitting by a fire, there's something about fire that makes it enjoyable!
The little man and I have collected quite a bit of the firewood from around the area and it works out pretty well. Since it's stuff that's pretty well dead, it burns very fast because most of it isn't a real hard wood. It means we can burn through an entire pile of sticks in one session sometimes! I try not to go overboard on that stuff too often though, as you can see I've got the fire going pretty well but I've got a good stash of sticks all around the pit!
It's certainly a nice time of year when the things start growing and we get to picking up what was left over from the winter to burn it and restart the cycle of life. Eventually I'll clean the pit out of all the ashes and strew them around the area. Sometimes it teems with life after that! It depends if I minimize the other stuff like paper though.
